Update: recently and still cleaning up from recent wildfire. Could use a few good hands and souls to aid in the process... Due to an excess of recently cut down trees on property, I've decided to give mushroom cultivation a go. Lots of drilling and plugging to do. Have 6 honey bee hives to get through the winter as well.Thanks for your consideration hello! thanks for taking a minute or two out of your life to check out the farm. trying to turn the 20 acres I'm currently living on and turning it into a global community. where anyone who has heart and soul and passion for making the world a better place will have a place to stay and harvest the fruits of their labors. I've been fortunate enough to travel throughout our great state of alaska and a little bit around the world and decided to settle here. though the climate can be a bit challenging (mostly in winter) the beauty is priceless to me. anyhow, starting to drift. so we're looking for some good wwoofers .....right now we have about 28 chickens , 3 goats, and have 6 beehives . Nurpu is still under construction and there's all sorts of work to be done. but we try to live in tune with our bodies and nature and don't work ourselves to much either . looking for lots of positive energies. but I believe with the right people it will happen and already is...we're located in willow alaska, which is an hour and a half north of anchorage. besides being close to major road system, we're more or less surrounded by wild land... the beauty is priceless. I've put everything I have into building this place up, that's why I'd love to get some wwoofers who have some connection to the earth, who have some passion to help others and have a passion for coming-being in Alaska. thanks for your time and feel free to contact me with any questions. there's lots of awesome things to do around here if you enjoy nature. I have a kayak, 2 catarafts, a mini bike (motorized) and a 4 wheeler for wwoofers to use. the fishing is world class . and there's trails to ride or walk forever. I'm right next to several rivers . so you could float and fish everyday if you wanted. Organic methods: No chemicals or pesticides used in any of our farming practices Certifications: Want to be, but dont have funds and energy to do whats required yet

I had a wonderful time working with Greg! He is a very kind and generous person and it was great to share his home for a little while. His son also loves to have WWOOFers around! While I was there, I mostly helped with firewood and the log furniture that he builds. He’s got a lot of different projects going on and you’ll probably work on whatever is the most pressing at the time.

If you're wwoofing because you want to learn a lot, this is the place to do it. Greg is a pro at many things, and he's always a great teacher. Always willing to let me pick his brain and ask questions, whether about carpentry, beekeeping, foraging, or just life skills in general. Even more importantly, Greg trusted me to almost any task that needed to be done, even more than I trusted myself sometimes. He trusted me to do things that were interesting, challenging, and actually mattered. I didn't feel like a hired gun, I felt like part of the team. I didn't have any carpentry skills when I arrived, but in less than 3 months, I got to the point where I'd feel capable building a bed on my own, which far exceeded my expectations. Finally, Greg is generous, passionate, and appreciates balance. We worked hard, but we didn't overwork, and took plenty of time to enjoy life. Also, I gotta shout out Greg’s son Paxson! He’s a sweet kid who will instantly make wwoofers feel welcome.

Greg is laid back and he’s got a great heart. He loves his homestead and he’s got quite a few projects going at any given time, so every WWOOFer will enjoy plenty of different opportunities. In a little over a month I helped to plant cuttings, fell trees for and build log furniture, cut and stack firewood, build a treehouse. We also gathered wild mushrooms and fished! Greg’s neighbors are all really friendly, so by the end of my time I felt myself a part of the Willow community in a way I didn’t expect, which was a real blessing. I recommend this homestead to anybody looking for a good WWOOFing experience!

Probably the most educational WWOOF experience I've had yet. Greg taught me about woodworking, fishing, boating, hunting, construction, local plants and mushrooms. At first Greg comes across as a sort of gruff workingman, but I found him to be a very kind and generous soul. I will say that this location is quite remote and rustic, and might be difficult for those unaccustomed to such a life. But there are various interesting projects happening here, and you will have many opportunities to really help out and make a difference. I finished each day with a deep sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Here is the real rural Alaska, not some pre-packaged nature safari for tourists. Thanks, Greg!

Greg is the man and an OG Alaskan. The dude has been homesteading for a bit now, and, though he'd tell you otherwise out of humility, he's getting pretty good at it. While I was there he had about a dozen free range chickens, 4 or so bee hives, a bunch of greens, a sick wood working shop, and wild blueberries and raspberries that he is in the process of domesticating. Greg also has a ton of knowledge of the land, building things (he's a former union carpenter), and fishing-- holy hell does he know about fishing. Go during the summer and you will leave being very comfortable going for big river salmon on your own. Best WWOOF I've ever been on. Greg is a great, laid back dude and his son Paxon is an adorable, funny little guy.

I would recommend this farm to anyone. I have WWOOFed at a couple of farms over the past few years and this one was by far my favorite. Greg is a thoughtful and overly generous host. Nurpu gave me a peek into off-grid Alaskan living and I learned so much! Before I showed up, Greg took time to think about projects that needed to be done around the farm and how my interests/strengths could be used to help with these projects. My experience was so much better because I was able to help on the farm while doing something that I like. Greg was very reasonable with his daily work expectations and I didn't feel overworked which gave me time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and nuances of off-grid living. It was a very rewarding and relaxing experience!
