Our farm is a 2 acre urban farm on the Colorado front range that provides opportunities for the local community to source delicious nutrient rich produce, cage free eggs and other cottage food items produced without the use of pesticides or synthetics. Through environmentally respectful practices, our family works tirelessly to be the community provider of quality farm products and your inspiration for continued education in knowing the life cycle of your food.
Our slogan and overall mission as a business is "Building Community Through Food." We do many volunteer days throughout the year which are a perfect example of one of the ways we strive to make our farm an integral part of our local food system and engage our neighbors and community members. We love seeing children from the neighborhood running around and playing, neighbors catching up on local news and altogether we end up making some significant progress on the farm. We started as a small 4 person Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and are now up to over 90 families. We accept SNAP and have several WIC members in our program and don't want to exclude anyone in our community from accessing high quality, nutritious and delicious produce.
We sell a wide range of vegetables, fruits, and fresh cut flowers. We have honey from our bees, home made beeswax soaps, chicken and duck eggs and more. We also partner with other local producers and sell Huckleberry Coffee, Mushrooms, and Western Slope Fruit at different times throughout the season. We also host two farm to table dinners each season where we bring in a local chef, musician and staff. We host the event outside on the farm and attendees can see us harvesting the food, preparing it in front of them and serving as they enjoy the company of other community members and relax in a beautiful setting. Usually we do 5 courses per meal and accept about 20 guests.
Finally, we offer an "Urban Homesteading Course" which has 4 stand alone classes. Attendees can take one or all four. It is totally up to them. We do a Grow Your Own Food, Backyard Chicken Keeping 101, Home Made Soap Making and a Food Preservation class. People can email us through our social media or website to reserve seats. We usually do these bi-monthly
Organic methods: We use crop rotation, organic/non gmo seed, integrated pest management and natural fertilization methods (compost tea, compost, vermicompost...)
Certifications: Though we do use all organic growing practices, we have not yet gone through the process of getting certified.
Current projects: We are a small family operation in just our beginning stages of business development. We have an overwhelming amount of harvesting, cultivating and infrastructure building projects to complete. We also have landscape maintenance, animal care, CSA/Farmstand setup and sales and watering that weed need help with.
