Our farm is 20 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee. Our main goal is to provide quail meat and eggs to the local area through direct-to-consumer sales, wholesale, and restaurant purchases. We also raise turkeys seasonally and have chickens and guinea hens as well as grapes, fruit trees, and berry bushes. We have farm dogs to protect the farm against hawks, foxes, and deer. Another farm goal is to maintain the forest and protect against invasive species - we have a lot of honeysuckle, privet, and tree of heaven to contend with. We also host farmstays, which given our proximity to Nashville, has been fairly popular.
The main WWOOFer accommodation is a yurt on the property with heat, AC, internet, hot water, bathroom, kitchen, and a double bed. If you want to stay in the farmhouse, we have a spare room as well, pending farmstay obligations. We may also allow RV/camper parking or tents if approved. We love animals, but pets are not allowed due to the working dogs. Having your own vehicle is a necessity; although Uber and Lyft do come out to our neighborhood, there is no public transit nearby. There are several local parks nearby in addition to the Nashville sights.
Organic methods: We do not use pesticides or herbicides. We are still learning and hoping to turn our farm fully organic. As we continue to develop our farm, we are working with the land in a healthy, sustainable way.
Certifications: We do not use pesticides but have not taken the steps to be certified organic.
Current projects: We have many current projects, so we can accommodate whatever your interest may be!
Our current list includes:
Planting, maintaining the orchard and vineyard, looking after our farm animals, removing invasive species, landscaping, irrigation, construction, tractor/machinery work, and small-scale sustainable timber harvesting.
Food will be provided by one of the following: a shared family meal, preprepared food, or self prepared meals with ingredients we provide.
Free internet access. Hot tub and seasonally available pool.
