Our farm started its humble beginnings in the middle 2000s, although I grew up on this ancestral land with my older cousin n sister n brother. My aunt was the main farmer, my uncle did public work with a company who made roads! My aunt was a big influence on my love for Agriculture, we grew all of our foods except flour, sugar, bananas. I continue to grow of lot of foods I consume today, collards, cabbages, corn, peppers, squash, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, herbs, blueberries, plums peaches, watermelon cantaloupe honeydew melons and this year oranges woohoo!! I listen and watch the vibrations of earth, Sun, Moon, Water, these elements are key to great harvesting!
A sustainable farmer who uses best practices align with nature. No chemical spray or fertilizers, hand picking bugs worms, use of other plants to create an eco system that all life forms will be in tune with give best crops! The farm produces a value added product called Ms. J’s Country Caviar (cha cha). We use the name to attract interest in our product! We submitted information to get copyrighted, this wonderful product taste so delicious on all foods!
We also grow bamboo which has been used to build a wash house for vegetables n entertainment for farm visitors! I have been hosting volunteer for some years, mostly weekends. During the summertime, I host young people ages 3 to folks 60 yrs + and sometimes all at same time! Lol !!
There are 2 private bedrooms for Wwoofers. There is also tent space for those interested in camping.
I am looking forward to learning from my WWOOFers who I feel will teach me wonderful things to increase my value n decrease labor! My dream is that visitors will come pick up from me on the farm rather than I travel 30 up to 150 miles to farmer markets!
I also would like to be a Teaching/ Training Farm that brings in cash to sustain my life, although I am a Vegan/ Vegetarian Chef in the entertainment world and non profits organization, as well as a personal chef. My latest work was with India Arie! Although I enjoyed preparing foods for others professionally, I love being on the Land!!
I am Mama of 9 with 7 living children n Grandma to 31 grandchildren and I have 1 great granddaughter. I was a wife for 35 until death of husband!
