We have a homestead where we raise crops, chickens and three children whom we homeschool and who also work on the farm. Our property is in a very rural location with many beautiful areas to explore on and off the property. We find so much peace and joy in caring for our gardens everyday and we cherish the time we get to spend sharing our experiences and life with others. We have been involved in living a self-sustainable life for many years and we love to share our experiences with others as well as have others share their experiences with us.
WWOOFers will participate in aspects of growing, maintaining and harvesting crops using organic methods and caring for chickens and the property. There is always much weeding to do on a crop farm as well as weekly harvests and cleanup from the harvests in order to prepare crops for our CSA Farm Box market. 2026 Will be a little different as we are giving our soil a break from heavy CSA production to allow it to rebuild the nutrients and regenerate the soil. We, however, will be working with a local high school in building new gardens and teaching their students and staff how to produce food for their own school's use.
We have a fully separate and private 300 square foot tiny house with heat, air conditioning, high speed fiber optic WiFi and electricity for the WWOOFers. There is a a queen bed and twin bed, a smart TV and DVD player. There also is an outside shower (as well as an indoor one) for magical bathing in the woods!! Because we live so rurally, we do require that WWOOFers have their own transportation. Crops from the farm, eggs, various dry goods such as beans, rice, oats and other grains and extras such as pasta, popcorn, sorghum syrup, flax seed, etc... will be provided to the Woofers to prepare meals.
We expect 25 hours per week, per person, of work with us on the farm with the remainder allowing for local exploration on or off the farm, including hiking, swimming and kayaking on the farm.
We spend most of everyday caring for our crops, our children and our chickens. There is so much fun to do in our woods, we rarely leave, however, there is much to explore in the area outside of our woods as well including several National Wildlife Reserves such as Big South Fork and the Obed River.
