How WWOOF USA worksWe publish a hard copy and online directory that list hundreds of organic farms and gardens across the country in which each host describes their farm, location, crops, and general responsibilities. Any farm, community or garden project in the United States that is willing to host and accommodate volunteers can participate in our program. We encourage all types of hosts that would enjoy working with volunteers to join WWOOF- USA. We print the directory twice a year (received by September 15th, profile will be in the Fall Edition; received by March 15th, profile will be in the Spring Edition). In between printings, new hosts can be accessed online. Host farms decide on the criteria for accepting volunteers: length of stay, experience required, hours worked per day or week, etc. Volunteers, or 'WWOOFers', receive the directory, look for a compatable host farm, and contact hosts directly to discuss responsibilities and expectations before arrival.
