Become a Host

We publish a hard copy and online directory that lists more than one thousand organic (USDA certification optional) farms and gardens across the country(including US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) in which each host describes their farm, location, crops, and general responsibilities. Any farm, community or garden project in the United States that is willing to host and accommodate volunteers can participate in our program. We encourage all types of hosts that would enjoy working with volunteers to join WWOOF- USA. We print the directory twice a year, and the online directory is updated every day. In between printings, new hosts can be accessed online.

Please review your listing often, and email us any changes to your profile. It is important that each listing is up to date and accurate.

New Hosts: How It Works

Host farms decide on the criteria for accepting volunteers: length of stay, experience required, hours worked per day or week, etc. Volunteers, or ‘WWOOFers’, receive the directory, look for a compatible host farm, and contact hosts directly to discuss responsibilities and expectations before arrival. Make sure to have open and clear communication regarding your expectations of WWOOFers, and listen to theirs. This is your opportunity to guide the process toward an agreeable situation. Likewise, please respond to all inquiries from WWOOFers , even if you are unable to accept WWOOFers at that time.

WWOOF Host Profile

If you would like to be listed in the annual WWOOF-USA directory, please email a profile containing the following information:

• -Farm name
• -Contact name
• -Phone,email, and/or website address
• -Location (address and description of land)
• -A brief description of activities (crops, projects, goals, etc.)
• -Suggested length of stay for volunteers
• -When volunteers are needed
• -Accommodations (number and type)
• -Non-farming activities (alternative construction, restoration projects, green energy, etc.)
• -Expectations of work for WWOOFers
• -Nearby area sights and fun things to do
• -Is transportation available to your farm?
• -Languages spoken
• -Are children or pets accepted?
• -Special diets
• -Any other farm or area specifics

Please email your farm profile to info@wwoofusa.org, so it can be entered into the database electronically.

Host Donations

We also ask for a $5 - $50 host donation to be listed in the WWOOF-USA directory each year. This fee helps cover our staff and operating costs. At this point, we can only accept this through the mail.
