My stay with Jerry and Carolyn was really wonderful. It was my first WWOOF experience so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they were both so welcoming and kind I quickly felt totally at ease. I worked roughly 5 hour days with a break for lunch, and the work expectations were always totally reasonable. It was a good mix of garden work and llama care- helping to halter train the crias was definitely a highlight! They were flexible with days off. I wasn’t expected to work outside in inclement weather, and could choose to do my own thing, join them in their plans for the day, or help with knitting. Staying with Jerry and Carolyn, I got many opportunities to go on outings with them and get to know them more. It definitely feels like you’re part of the family! I highly recommend staying with them, especially if you’re newer to WWOOFing and want to be somewhere easygoing and with a pretty light workload.

We had a wonderful couple of days at Freedom Farms! Our tasks mainly included cleaning lichen from orange trees, as well as collecting, cleaning, and sorting eggs. Highlights of the stay were the beautiful sunsets from the highest part of the property, the delicious fresh eggs, and the shared community dinners. The mission of this farm is very commendable, but the farming here is still starting up - we're excited to see what it will be in the future! Big thank you to Niko for his warm welcome, we hope our paths will cross again :)

My first WWOOF experience was with Hannah and her family, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better start to this adventure. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed and valued. Hannah is wise beyond her years and incredibly generous with her knowledge. She patiently guided me through every new task, making learning feel both empowering and exciting. Thanks to her, I’ve fallen completely in love with WWOOFing. I learned about caring for chickens and sheep, planting, mushrooms, composting, cover crops, and so much more. It was hands-on, meaningful work that deepened my appreciation for the land. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and already counting down the days until I’m back on her farm next month!

I spent one month with Ames on his property and the experience has left me humbled, recharged and overflowing with gratitude. Ames is an incredibly generous person with a wealth of knowledge of the environment, the people, and the history of this very sacred place. The more effort and initiative you show, the more you will be rewarded with endless opportunities! You should be comfortable around animals (dogs, cats, sheep, goats, chickens, etc.), be flexible with a shifting daily flow, and capable of living rustically. However the chance to be immersed in local life, forage/harvest fruit and vegetables, work with bees, eat fresh caught fish and meat over an open fire, sleep right next to the ocean with the sound of the waves and endless stargazing, makes this place an absolute privilege to experience! Aside from some essentials that are listed in other reviews, please come with respect, a good sense of humor, and an open mind. Mahalo Ames đŸ™đŸ»

I originally planned to stay for one month, but I loved the place so much that I ended up staying for six months! Working with the deer is truly a unique experience. I really enjoyed feeding them, giving them peanuts, and petting King Julian (one of the bucks). Eric is a great teacher. He loves sharing his knowledge and is very patient and skilled at explaining things. Since being here, I’ve learned so many new skills, met wonderful people, and explored a lot of South Dakota. If you want to experience real ranch life, learn hands-on skills, and have a lot of fun, I definitely recommend this place. I will definitely come back — for the deer, and also for my new family in South Dakota!

Our stay at New World Farmstead was incredible. The barn apartment had everything we needed, and Genie and Glenn provided us with ample, ethically-sourced food. We helped with animal care, gardening, and progress on the house (that they are building themselves). Communication and expectations were clear while the environment was still casual and enjoyable! The animals were great company, and Glenn and Genie are even better. Can't find a better crowd! Genie and Glenn are a WEALTH of knowledge and wisdom. We were sad to leave and hope to return in the future. We highly recommend spending time at New World Farmstead if you're interested in animal care, gardening, carpentry, the area, etc. Also, go to square dancing if you get the chance :)

My time at Arcadia meant so much to me that it took me a very long time to actually write a review, which felt like I’d be tying it up with a bow. I simply cannot recommend it enough: It’s a beautiful place with amazing people, which will work wonders in helping you reframe your life and gain much-needed perspective. It’s so easy to get caught up in an everyday routine without giving much thought to how you’re spending your time, and Arcadia is a place that helps you refocus, connect with the earth, learn a lot, make wonderful friends, admire some majestic cats, and simply be grateful.

I had an excellent time during my month long stay! Clare and Cole were great teachers and welcomed questions about everything, making sure that we were able to experience all the unique responsibilities that spring up on a farm of this size in addition to the daily milking and feeding. I got to see and take part in many different aspects of the farm, such as delivering babies, trimming hooves, mucking pens, and teaching guests about the goats. The farm itself is a lovely place, with great people working there. The house we were in had plenty of space and was very comfortable.

A truly special experience! Two Creek is an incredible place for someone who really wants to learn about regenerative farming. Brent is an amazing resource, and I learned something new every time we spoke. I spent about a month here in the winter. It was not easy, especially with the cold weather, but it was very rewarding and educational. My daily chores involved getting food and water to the chickens, collecting and packing eggs, and rendering beef fat into tallow for Two Creek's whipped tallow product. I would also help out at the Cooperage Farmers Market in Honesdale selling honey, meat, eggs, cheese, soap, and whipped tallow. Other winter work that I did not participate in included bringing hay to the cows and sheep, bringing feed to the pigs, and making sure no one's water was frozen. Since the animals can't graze pasture and the days are shorter, there is more downtime than in the spring and summer months. This time is used to build an inventory of products like whipped tallow and soaps for the spring and summer markets. I cannot recommend Two Creek enough, but be prepared to work hard and keep yourself accountable. Brent is on a mission to show that a financially viable farm can restore diverse ecosystems and support local food systems. In the US, this is an uphill battle, and Two Creek needs people who are here to learn and contribute to that mission. I have so much respect for what Brent is building, and I'm grateful I got to be a small part of it.

My husband and I had a nice 5 week stay here over Winter. The farm is beautiful and in a good location. My husband did repairs and built some projects. The work for me was 95% weeding. Living quarters for us were simple. We did end up buying a few things for basic comfort. Kitchen is nice and suitable. We ended up buying about 95% of our own food. There was some fruits provided and basic staples. There wasn't much engagement or interaction with our host Natalie outside of the instructions for work to be done. The work week is consistent at Mon.-Fri. 7:30-12:30. This farm would be best suited for someone who is a self starter and likes a peaceful and quiet environment. Good communication skills will make your time here more smooth and enjoyable.
