Heart culture, in one word was Mystic. In two sentences changed my life. In three days quickly I felt a shift in my outlook about life as a mom and person of place in community. The values and care that Kara has for the land is more than just inspiring, it has the potential to change someone's heart. Being able to be taught by her daily walk and particularly her chosen poetry for each day brought me to a sense of presence in the bliss of pulling weeds, chasing ducks, appreciating a new sense of culture in cheese, and quietly breathing in renewal in each day. The community of heart culture and the wwoof team of heart culture each provided a generous and safe space for being within my self, while also expressing fluidity in my season of life, and even sharing grief. Everyone welcomed me with support. I felt guided and encouraged even when I hit a low point. This experience over all, will forever be woven into my brains patchwork of how I will tie seeds into the ground and plant relational wellness in my life in weaving my community.

Nora and Laura are a gift. The land they care for, the house they've built, the animals they raise, the life they've made, are all so special. Learning with Nora and Laura was empowering and rewarding and fun. Tasks were interesting and living together was so sweet. Impossible to convey all the many blessings and magics that radiate from their strawbale stronghold but we are indescribably fuller, kinder, more capable, more present humans than when we arrived. <3

My first time WWOOFing was an amazing experience, and great learning opportunity, I recommend Farm to Family to anyone who wants a hands-on experience farming in the Florida environment. This farm is a very special place and everyone was super nice, and very welcoming. I can't imagine a better place to spend my first WWOOF experience.

The Living Earth Garden Project is a beautiful, unique off-grid biointensive project that graciously allowed me to do my PhD research in Anthropology with them. Over the course of two months, I learned how to care for plants and how to slow down and enjoy the fauna and flora of Taos. I would enthusiastically encourage folks to check out this project, especially if you are interested in off-grid living, deepening your permaculture knowledge, or taking it slow and deconnecting from society to reconnect with the world. I will remember my conversations over the breakfast table for a long time and will definitely be coming back. Please note, it does get super windy in Taos and I would not underestimate the ability of the wind to blow your tent over! Car camping is a good bet.

My stay at Curley Creek was awesome! We got to do a lot of planting and weeding. As well as trellising raspberries and doing some tree thinning. Pete is a great tour guide and we did a lot of cycling and before I left we got to do a river float down the Kootenai. The yurt was very comfortable to stay in and Sharky and Pablo were such great dogs. I felt very safe as a solo woman traveler. I would come back again!

Lydia and Michael were great hosts - eager to include me in their family and farm life, share about their permaculture and other experiences, and guide me toward great local happenings. They're cultivating a good sense of community among visitors and local residents alike and pursuing a worthwhile vision for the place, so it felt good to contribute. They were also welcoming and inquisitive about my own experiences. Crestone itself is quirky and homey, and other nearby places including the Sand Dunes NP and religious center were worth a visit. ... The work was a mix of planting and weeding; be ready for lots of sand. Accommodations - in this case a shared bell tent - and common spaces provided me with a helpful mix of shared time and alone time ... Highly recommend!!

We loved being at Sapsucker. Jim & Debbie are extremely accommodating and were so flexible with our little family. We learned so much from them and were able to do a variety of tasks from helping with a prairie burn to packing the CSA. The bunkhouse was cozy, and we always felt like we had our own space. It was so much fun to be around the chickens and dogs and at such a beautiful place. It was the perfect first wwoofing experience!

We had a fabulous 4 weeks with Avalon and Ross. Their land is nestled between Canyons of the Ancients and Ute Mountain. My two kids (ages 9 and 12) and I saw toads, hummingbirds, crayfish, wild turkeys, deer. We marveled at how they could turn desert into life thanks to their irrigation systems. We cleaned and packed seeds, created garden beds, planted, weeded, and learned a ton. On our free time we did a lot of mountain biking all around the area and across the street at the national monument. Also Cortez is only a short drive away. But the best part of all were our hosts and teachers, Avalon and Ross. I highly recommend this farm and their seed company. I can't wait to go home and plant some of their in my garden.

I spent a month and a half on this farm and had an amazing experience. I met wonderful people, and the family is incredibly welcoming and kind. This was my first Wwoofing experience, and I couldn’t be happier with it! I learned so much during my stay. I would 100% recommend this place if you enjoy farm work. I had never worked on a farm or in the equestrian field before, but I adapted very quickly and felt comfortable right away. I’m extremely happy with my stay and grateful for everything I learned. Thank you again for this wonderful experience!

Suzie is incredibly kind, respectful, and dynamic — she really does so much for the town and for her shop and household! She taught me some really helpful things about cultivating and tending to plants of all kinds. Seldovia is a really interesting (and beautiful) place — Suzie will do what she can to make sure you have a great time in the region! She knows so much about everything, it seems. I loved hearing her stories, and I really enjoyed my stay there; it gave me such awesome insight into how things work in Alaska (a very different place than where I'm from!). I'll definitely be back to the state — it is absolutely breathtaking and fascinating. Thank you, Suzie!
