WWOOF in the USA

WWOOF USA is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in the USA and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with these folks on this land. My daughter (13) and I spent a week here as first time WWOOFers and we learned so much. Accommodations were great, plenty of food and clean facilities. She is a bit shy so we kept to ourselves a bit after work, but the time spent with the co-op was informative and comfortable. We hope to go back again later in the season. Their needs/the work we did changed everyday and this was really helpful for us to try new things. We really loved doing the animal chores and harvesting parsnips.

The Green PLANet Gardens was my first experience WWOOFing. I’m so glad that Sue and Gordon shared the days with me. I got to sow annual and perennial seed mix, plant baby lavender plugs, pull weeds, haul green waste to a recycling place, and plant a brand new dogwood tree. I had a lot of valuable conversations with them about their important work. They have helped so many communities through their many efforts. On one of my days, I joined them and other area gardeners in the beautiful historic downtown part of West Linn, repotting scores and scores of donated plants for an upcoming local event. Oregon is well known as a gardener’s delight, but add to it the stunning views of Mount Hood, the Cascades, and the Coast Ranges from Sue and Gordon’s property, and you’ll feel like you somehow wound up in paradise. Many thanks to them both for being part of why WWOOF is a great program.

We spent time at Tristan’s farm in Vermont and left feeling deeply restored and connected to nature and our new lifelong friends. What we loved most was the rhythm of the days. There were open invitations to engage with the land in a hands-on, meaningful way. Examples of some of what we experienced: we split wood, worked on building a rock wall, spent time in the garden, built a tree swing, moved fencing around a tribe of goats for a fresh place to graze, and picked fresh blueberries straight from the bushes. We appreciated the independent, self-directed work—physical, simple, and connected to the environment. Needless to say, our dog loved it too. Tristan, you and your family have created something really special. We keep daydreaming about the possibilities of spending a winter there one year :)

Volunteering with Edie and her family was wonderful. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. The work was fun and manageable. You’ll definitely have free time to explore surrounding areas.

I had a great experience living and working at the farm. Randy has a wide variety of hands on skills and knowledge so I learned a lot. There is a variety of work from garden, livestock management, construction, and forestry. The land is beautiful and there is lots of recreation options right from the farm, like paddling the river, or biking. Randy is a great cook and his family is very nice.

Suzan and Paul are the best! They are such gracious hosts and made us feel so comfortable. Suzan is such a great teacher as she showed us her farm, explained how things work and patiently taught us how to do the work. The living/sleeping conditions were perfect as we had our own bedroom and bathroom. We ate all the meals together and the conversation was easy. Our experience, from fixing outhouses, re-planting trees, fertilizing plants, and more, was awesome! We highly recommend visiting/working with Suzan and Paul and their farm!

I was on the ranch for two months in Summer 2025. I shared a trailer with another wwoofer. Everyone had a private sleeping room. Morning and evening chores included caring about the deer, cattle, sheep and chickens. They also have three Fjords, so if you like riding you will have the chance to but you do not need to. One to two other wwoofers were on the ranch at the same time. You work independantly but if you have any questions you will get answers. I learned how to drive with a trailer, a four-wheeler and a skid steer. It does not get boring. Lunchtime is the best time to have some rest. But there are also very busy days where you work all day. I had the chance to help at the lambs castration and two (cattle) brandings. On the weekends we visited several Rodeos. I enjoyed every single day while working in the beautiful nature. Thanks for this opportunity!

It is such an honor to be helping Bobbie on the ranch. It’s well kept, Bobbie is very fair, and pleasant to be around, there’s plenty for us to stay busy on the property and the people who have come through have been a blessing to meet.

We had an amazing week at Buena Fruta Farm with Jeff. As a family with children, we especially appreciated how kind, welcoming, and flexible Jeff was, and how thoughtfully he helped create a schedule that allowed us to contribute meaningfully to the farm while also feeling comfortable and balanced. We also really enjoyed the opportunity to experience local life through visits to the farmers’ markets, the lovely beaches, and nearby towns not far from Mayagüez. Throughout our stay, we learned so much about regenerative agriculture, tropical fruit trees, cacao, coffee, and sustainable farming practices. Jeff is generous with his knowledge and always willing to teach, share stories, and explain the “why” behind the work we were doing. This was a unique and enriching experience, and we are deeply grateful for our time at Buena Fruta Farm and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and hands-on agricultural experience in a gorgeous tropical farm.

Wonderful experience, gorgeous location, and kind host. I appreciated how much freedom i felt while there. I could get up, start work, eat, and end work on my own timeline. There was lots of privacy and adventure. Todd was personable, hospitable, and welcoming while also giving me plenty of freedom. If you're sensitive to the sound of traffic, you might want to bring earplugs or a speaker for white noise because there is a busy road nearby. The benefit of that is that the city is accessible so you can also do things like sightsee in Oldtown San Diego, go to the beach, and explore the town. Highly recommend staying here, it was a great experience.

Spent a lovely afternoon at Jen’s nursery in Valley Cottage. I was able to help out with some tasks to get prepped for the season and learn from Jen’s wealth of knowledge of plants. Very much enjoyed the day together!

This was my very first WWOOF experience and I've very thankful that it was with Richard and Misha. Oregon is definitely cold in March but the accommodations are amazing and their property is very beautiful. The town of Philomath is so cute and the ocean is only an hour away. With my arriving in the beginning of the season, I did a lot of cleaning of garden beds, some tree pruning, lots of weed pulling, fertilizing, lawn mowing, and planted a few things. The days are chill and you can work on your own time. I was alone most of the time so if that is your thing, you'll enjoy it. It's very peaceful there. Thanks again for hosting me! Much love
