Bridget & Charlie are magnificent land stewards, educators, and designers. They were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to insure myself and other WWOOFers were well-fed & accommodated. Gateway Farm is a tremendously impressive operation, and you become a fully immersed member as a WWOOFer staying there. The community of employees are friendly, easy-going, and happy to help you if you're new to something. From the unique foreign varietals they grow, to their dedication to seed-saving, to the community they've built in their area, they are truly making an incredible impact with their presence. I would highly recommend this space as a place to stay for a while, or simply a place to visit on a free day. Many thanks to Bridget & Charlie and I will most definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area!

We only spent three days at Heartland Farm, but I wish we could have stayed for longer! You have to appreciate just how much work has been done here by the sisters. The trails are beautiful, there is such a variety of buildings to explore, the animals are precious and well taken care of, and there always seems to be something going on that you can participate in. You have a chance to talk to everyone at Monday volunteer meetings and community lunches Tuesday through Friday, but outside of that there are usually people doing work outside or hanging out inside who would be happy to talk. Rocket and Lily are also happy to walk with you. A beautiful community that would be a great environment to stay long-term. Thank you so much!

I had a really positive experience at this farm. As someone who has a strong interest in both growing and arranging flowers, this was a good fit. I did miss the Peony season. Fortunately, there were so many other beautiful flowers in bloom in the greenhouses. Some of which were new to me. So helping to make several different sized arrangements was super fun. Additionally, I did some weeding, weed prevention and dug up potatoes. Also, fun and meditative in their own way. I appreciated that whatever the tasks were for the day, those were clearly stated each morning. The accommodations were nice. The living quarters had a great place to relax, a comfy bed and warm shower. Meals were self serve for both breakfast and lunch, with delicious dinners prepared mostly by the host. Beautiful scenery, kind and welcoming folks. Thank you for letting me be part of it for a short bit. Best of luck in continuing to grow your business!

What a wonderful first WWOOF experience! Marj, Gerald, and Abe were so welcoming and eager to make me feel at home. I had a great time working in their gardens and greenhouses and getting some berry cuttings started! I also enjoyed walking around the property with Gerald identifying and talking about all the trees! The food and conversation was fantastic as well, and we even got to go on a trip to Richland Creek nearby one day after work, which was a highlight of the trip for sure! I will certainly remember my time here fondly.

This was my first WWOOF and it was great! Jeanne and Steve are wonderful people with a wonderful farm. I learned a lot about all the different animals and aspects of working on and running a farm and Im very grateful to have spend nearly a month here.
