Jackson’s Garden is a 501-C3 nonprofit community garden, located 2 miles from the small town of Sheridan Montana, in the heart of the Ruby valley. We offer to the community, as in the town of Sheridan and near by area, a place to come to find peace, learn about gardening, eat healthy food, enjoy nature, and feel connected. Half of our garden is flowers and the other half is vegetables. Our vegetables are organically raised. Although we are not certified. Our flowerbeds are breathtaking. There is always something new popping through the soil at Jackson’s Garden. We host different events throughout the season from weddings to parties. We also plan our own events like music in the garden, harvest dinner, cider press and full moon potlucks. Our greatest asset that make us different from most community gardens is we work together in collaboration, growing and harvesting as a community; rather than each member being responsible for their own plot. We at Jackson’s Garden are constantly learning from each other. Our membership represents many age groups, bring much wisdom to our community. The only people living at the garden are Wwoofers that inhabit our two cabins. These cabins have been specifically made for Wwoofer visits. Our cabins are made from all recycled material. The builder of these cabins creates no two cabins alike. They make for a sweet stay at the garden. There is a full kitchen for you to do your own cooking and a full bathroom that you will be sharing with the other cabin. We get the groceries, you cook your meals. We would require 4 hours a day, 5 days a week of work. Our members have regularly scheduled garden days during the week. You will find yourself gardening with lots of different interesting people. We are looking for Wwoofers that would like to experience what it takes to be in a community garden. Your experience in gardening is not essential. We are looking for those who are open to staying as much of the season as possible. Our season begins in April and goes to the beginning of October. Your job will consist of working with shovels, hoes, rakes, hoses. mowing, harvesting, weeding, helping with events and keeping the premises tidy. Check out our Facebook page and website to get a better feel of us. Come spend some time in Montana, learning first hand why we are called “big sky country”. Your days off can be filled with lots of different adventures in nature. There is so much here to offer you.

Wonderful experience! Living at the Garden was a lot of fun. The community members were wonderful and always invited us to do things with them. My husband enjoyed working on projects with the guys. The cabins were adorable and the bathroom and kitchen accommodations had everything you need.

My experience at this wonderful community garden was a great learning experience ! I was welcomed with open arms from the community garden members and stayed in a cozy cabin with a very clean and efficient kitchen and bathroom . The initial process of clearing the garden area from the winter debris to seeding all of the vegetables and planting the bulb flowers in the garden was truly amazing! The garden members were very active and the schedule of work time was very efficient and effective during planting season. To see the plants emerge and the flowers bloom and the Harvest happen was very endearing to a farmers heart! The hosts Kim & Linda were incredibly educated on many facets of gardening and always had a fun project or event happening in the garden for the community to enjoy. What a fabulous first woofing experience. This small town was filled with so much to see & experience. If you love being out in nature, having a wonderful setting to grow your garden knowledge t inhis is the place for you! Much gratitude for this community garden & people!

My summer at this farm was unforgettable - with this being my first wwoofing experience, I feel like I really lucked out! Kim and the other garden members were kind, and welcoming, and they were willing to teach me everything I needed to know about helping out at the garden. The cabin/facilities were excellent, and I was surprised how quickly I felt right at home in Sheridan and with the farm community (I had such a positive experience, I am even returning for the fall to help close the garden for the season!) Would highly recommend this place to any wwoofer who is willing to go in with a good work ethic alongside an open mind and heart

My 6 month stay at Jackson's Garden was one of the best experiences of my life. The accommodations were nicer than anything I imagined, and the friends I made there now feel like family. I learned so much, and enjoyed the experience of creating a beautiful space for our community. The kind folks who run this garden treated me with respect and generosity. I felt so welcomed and accepted in this lovely town. In fact, I liked it so much I decided to stay in Sheridan even after my time at the garden ended. I would recommend this opportunity for serious wwoofers who want to learn about organic gardening practices and who are not afraid of hard work. Jackson's Garden runs much like a community park and space, so it's important that you enjoy meeting people, being friendly, and being flexible. The weather is perfect, the mountains are heaven, and the people you will meet here can change your life. I highly recommend this opportunity and I am so grateful to Linda, Paul, Carla, and the whole gang for allowing me to work with them and for treating me like part of their families.

I worked here from June through July 2018. It was a wonderful experience! I really enjoyed the space and working with the plants. Mostly I watched the farm, weeded, planted, cleaned and made sure to open and close according to the weather. The scenery is amazing, mountains to climb down every road, and the garden itself is beautiful to walk around in. They do a wonderful job with the flowers and keeping everything nice. I felt very at peace here! They asked for things they could improve on, so I will say that the living space in the garage is not very private, as people come and go in the morning when they are working. It was not a problem for me, but that could be an issue for someone else, so just be aware. There could also be more guidelines as I had some confusion in the beginning about my exact duties working there, but they communicated well for most of the time! It was really relaxed and just what I needed this summer. Thank you guys for everything! I hope I can return to Montana again some day! - Cat
