This homestead is located in the Ouachita Mountains in Mount Ida, Arkansas about 35 miles west of Hot Springs. This is the quartz crystal capital of the world and there are many crystal mines in the area where you can dig for your own treasures. The Ouachita Lake and River are just a few miles away and offer many adventures. There are hiking trails, bike trails, freshwater-springs and many clear creeks in the area to enjoy also. This region has some of the cleanest and most healing water in the country. Drinking water comes from a free flowing spring in the area. I incorporate organic, permaculture and biodynamic growing principles (as much as possible). Farming activities can include all aspects of growing food as well as greenhouse activities with potted plants mostly of aloes and succulents. Other activities can include anything associated with a homestead, cutting grass, weed eating, organizing, etc. I provide a cozy private living space in a camper with a small deck, internet, electricity, a composting toilet, outdoor cold shower, separate kitchen/hangout area and yummy food for 30 hours of exchange a week. Most meals are on your own with food provided and some meals are together in my home. I welcome all diets. There is also space available for camping and an RV.   I am grateful for the communal experience, enjoy communicating about all aspects of life especially natural healing and spirituality and sharing the beauty this area has to offer. I invite positive volunteers who are mindful, self motivated, works well with others and also alone, flexible, easy going, who loves living in a positive uplifting vibe through activities with plants, the earth, art, nature, the mineral kingdom and whatever else life presents us to play with. I especially love supporting women coempowering other women! No drama, liars, alcoholics, drugs, smokers, or thieves accepted. I welcome children and dogs provided they don't need constant attention, are chilled and positive mannered. I have five beautiful friendly dogs who are well socialized. Besides farming some interests are art, spirituality, shamanism, natural healing, alternative construction, lapidary, and swimming time. I love nature and exploring the natural beauty of the area. Thanks for considering volunteering and I look forward to hearing from you!  Journeys of Joy!

I'm glad to have met Pamela at her beautiful farm in Arkansas. There was a lot to do, and she helped me learn every step of the way. I had never worked with non-edible plants before and she was patient with me and showed me the ropes. She also had food crops that I helped care for in addition to the greenhouse work. The wwoofer accommodations were great, a nice retreat in the woods that she kept lively and well stocked with food and fresh water from the local spring. Pamela is currently in a transition phase where she is moving to a new place, and could use more design/building/construction knowledgeable individuals so if you have those skillsets don't hesitate- you will fit right in and be able to help immensely. She is a joy to be around and has so much knowledge on farming, non-traditional spiritual subjects (if you're into that kind of thing) and many other subjects, and she is always willing to share the knowledge.

What a great experience with a wonderful host. Pamela is a great host, a great cook and well versed on a variety of subjects. She has multiple properties with tons of work at each one. I was able to assist with the construction of a 21'x40' greenhouse/tunnel. My stay was incredible! I look forward to a return visit. Pamela is a very caring and generous lady!

It was my first Wwoofing, I didn’t really have any special expectations. Great welcome at Pamela, despite the fact that I arrived two days early. She was able to offer me a nice place to live on her new farm. For wwoofers who like to do a variety of tasks, this is the perfect place. Every day was different. Pamela is a big-hearted woman who loves everything that lives. She was very patient and helped me a lot with the English. These dogs are adorable and her friends are too. I really liked my experience with Pamela

I spent a little over a week at this farm. The farm is in transition moving from one property to another. I helped with that. A bit of handy woman work at the new property and some transplanting of the succulents at the hoop house. I stayed in my van so cannot comment about staying in the camper that is provided. The host is kind and I enjoyed my time.

I stayed with Pamela for a little under a month, and it was a wonderful time! Pamela was so welcoming of both me and my dog, treating both of us like family. She is currently working on moving to her new property on the river, so most of my work was related to getting that space ready for her. The property is amazing, and I am excited to see it come together. Pamela has such a kind heart and ensured that I was comfortable and happy throughout my stay. I stayed in my own camper, but the wwoofer camper she has is adorable and the kitchen provided is more than adequate. There is so much beautiful nature to see in the surrounding area— be sure to go with to fill the water jugs at the spring! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Pamela’s farm and I am excited to come back some day!
