Hello from Robert! We are a small, sustainable family style farm situated in Homer across from active volcanoes and glaciers. Downtown is 5 miles away. We grow as much of our food as we can and raise our own birds. Our most critical time is May 9th- June 9th, as Alaska spring goes right into summer! I'm an artist and am always trying to work the natural landscape into art projects, big and small. Samantha is a ""Foodie"" and when home is often harvesting wild plants, making breads, and drying/processing foods. We are specially interested in having help from late April through late September/early Oct. Projects are VERY varied, everything from painting to ditching to picking strawberries or fishing. We do work hard and ask WWOOFers for varied hours- some days 6 hours, sometimes a beach hike instead- whatever the family is doing that day. Town is close and you can easily catch a ride in and back, or borrow a bicycle. This is good for both independent workers and those who enjoy a family-style meal with conversation at the end of the day. We have had many WWOOFers learning conversation skill in a new language and welcome this. We include guests in all our activities, and strongly encourage eating together. Vegetarians/vegan/allergies are welcome. We find stays of 2 weeks or more are the goal. We have a dry cabin, rustic but cute, built sustainably from repurposed materials, with a GREAT view of the Cook Inlet. The above sunset images were taken from the cabin loft window. Tent sites snuggled under the spruce trees if people prefer or the cabin is booked. Sleeping bags are a must. We provide towels, inside bathroom, and extra boots/wet gear if needed. There are trails leading down to the beach and off into the woods for those who love hiking. As you might be able to tell from the included photos we have frequent opportunities for wildlife viewing right in our own yard. Our photos of cranes and moose were taken on our property. During the day Sand Hill Cranes often land in the field and delight us with their incredible dances and graceful movement. It's not at all unusual to have moose wander through the property sometimes hanging around for days especially during calving season. In addition to typical garden planting/maintenance type chores, some of the projects that we will be working on this coming season are: working with soil improvement and drainage, improving the asparagus and strawberries, developing a moose-resistant tree nursery, and clearing walking trails on our adjacent property. I use repurposed/up-cycled/salvage materials to build some of the buildings on the property, including my art studio. We are always trying to expand our concept of creative and sustainable living. If you're interested in seeing some additional photos from around our farm and the Homer area, check out our Instagram page (shared in the website field here).  Our Hosting dates back to 1996, in the Canadian WWOOF book. The only serious rule is please respect host privacy from 9:00 at night to 9:00 am. We close the house during those hours and ask guests to use their own cabin/camp at that time. All other activities are with the family! Organic methods: Composting, chicken manure used for "hot" beds, crop rotation, duck work, protective covers, and lots of hope. Certifications: We are a small family farm, and devoted to organic practice. As we don't sell product we have never looked for certification. Internet access available

I spent two weeks with Robert and Samantha and it was great! They made sure we had everything we need, there always was delicious and fresh food and they made sure we could do a variety of work to experience different things and not always do the same (trimming, weeding, cooking, garage-work, pond-work, cutting trees, watering, harvesting etc.). For this short time i almost felt as a part of the family and i valued the interesting conversations and meals together. Samantha and Robert are very warm-hearted and funny people and i would totally recommend this stay!

This was probably the best possible first WWOOFing experience I could have ever had. I stayed for about three weeks and learned SO much: proper harvesting techniques, the process of raising (and killing) meat chickens, and a whole lot about what LARP is because of Samantha. Rowyn, her son, and his partner Cami were kind enough to drive another WWOOFer, my boyfriend, and I around Homer to grab backpacking supplies before going to a concert. Every review already said it, but I truly felt like part of the family. I got to go to Salmonfest for three days with them at the end! of my stay, and camping alongside a hand-crafted caravan was a treat. I was able to do everything from getting hiking recommendations to using Robert's shop to do some crafts. He even helped my boyfriend make a bolo tie for the music festival and gave us free stickers! The work is hard some days, but they're a flexible and sweet farm. Totally recommend!!

I can wholeheartedly say this farm is one I would happily return to. Both Samantha and Robert are amazingly sweet, attentive, engaging, and knowledgeable hosts. I loved getting to know them and felt instantly comfortable in their presence. Work days were super manageable, usually beginning at around 9 and ending at 3-4pm with frequent breaks. The time was split between various crafting + planting activities with Samantha, to other construction related tasks with Robert. On days with nice weather we were encouraged to take days off or end early to explore. Working alongside Samantha and Robert was so much fun. They are incredibly encouraging and generous with their time and resources. I'm grateful for Robert, an artist, who was especially kind in providing me tips and tools to help me succeed with a few craft projects I took up on the farm. Samantha is a burst of energy and light. She gets you involved in everything so you can experience as much as possible, she is also an AMAZING cook. The views and wildlife on the farm are spectacular. The town of Homer is about a 10 minute drive and we got rides regularly to explore the town, beaches, and do hikes. The individual cabins were extremely comfortable. We had access to heating and power from our cabins and showers and internet inside the house. The Airbnb was also nice to spend time in when no one was booked. It was a great place to watch the sunset, read, take showers, and moose scout! So much love for DV!!!!!!!

Thank you Robert and Samantha! I had such a phenomenal time here. I felt immediately comfortable and at home at diamond view. S&R are some of the most motivated, inspiring, and dedicated people. Creative, patient, and full of wonderful stories. It was an absolute pleasure full of learning and new experience.

I couldn't have been luckier to choose Samantha and Robert's farm as my first WWOOF experience. They have an incredible talent for making people feel comfortable and at home. After just two short weeks with them, I feel like I have two new members of my family. Samantha is a very knowledgeable gardener and an absolute inspiration in the kitchen! It was such fun to learn from her how to make the most out of what was growing well and how to preserve that food to enjoy later in the year. I also got firsthand exposure to the "magic" of the compost that makes it all possible. Robert is a man of many talents and hobbies and was happy to share his knowledge to help me get exposure to new things. With the help of Robert and another WWOOFer, I worked on some building projects (gate for the chicken coop, new fence post) and picked up lots of new skills in the process. Other projects included some tree work (trimming, planting, fencing) and weeding. I loved my little cabin, which was private and very comfortable. I also enjoyed trips into town (don't miss the Homer Bookstore!), walks and bike rides to the beach and around the neighborhood, and a kayak trip in Kachemak Bay. I'm so grateful to Samantha and Robert for all that I learned and for the many wonderful conversations over delicious meals. Don't hesitate to visit the farm if you have the chance!

This was our first Wwoofing experience and we couldn’t have been luckier to have picked Samantha and Robert. We felt as if we were part of the family right away. We ate all meals together, with Samantha’s phenomenal cooking skills leading the way in the kitchen. We were very excited at every mealtime. We joined Robert to build an outhouse, fire pit, and protective fences for trees. Additionally, we helped out in the garden with lots of weeding and watering with Samantha. One of our regular chores was feeding, watering, and getting eggs from the chickens and ducks. We were even there for their meat chicken butchering day which was super foreign to me but we learned a lot. They are so kind and so welcoming. We went into town together, farmers market, and even a LARPing event. We learned so much about Alaska agriculture and lots of skills we are taking back to the lower 48 with us. We stayed in a mini cabin which accommodated to us so well and Robert was constantly working on new projects around the farm. They live very close to the beach and were so kind to give us rides wherever (we didn’t have a car and it wasn’t an issue) it really felt like we lived there. At the end of our trip we had plans to go camping at a glacier lake, and the family was very accommodating for our plans. They also gave us a ride to the bus pick up point when it was time to leave. If you’re trying to pick a family/wwoofers to join this is your sign to reach out to Samantha and Robert! Miss you guys!

Cece and Reece were exceptionally helpfull, thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable to have at our farm. They both contributed daily to projects we had going with a great attitude and can-do approach to each and every task they tackled. They both worked well with other Wwoofers and were able to problem-solve independently and successfully. 100% recommendation from us: We would welcome them back anytime-
