This ranch is a desert ranch in southwest New Mexico, mild climate year round. Ranch work for WWOOFers includes gathering and working cattle, fence maintenance, tractor driving for field work, pipeline maintenance, and general ranch work. Owner also owns rentals in Lordsburg and we work on maintenance and remodel as well. Carpenter skills are a plus. I am flexible with length of stay, but would like from 3 weeks to a month. Accommodations are provided along with meals. English is spoken along with some Spanish. Nearby are scenic mountains which include the Gila National Forest, the Chiracuahuas, and many others. Fun activities include bird watching, trail hiking, and camping out. No smoking, drug, or alcohol usage allowed. Respect property and keep living quarters clean and tidy. Upon departure leave living quarters ready for next guest. House accomodations are a bedroom with bath in a large 3 bedroom ranch house. Owner is a single 71 year old man, single. Female accomodations are not available. There is room for one wwoofer at a time, cannot handle multiple woofers.

The 2 and a half months I spent at Bim's Ranch were a part of my life that I will never forget. From the simplest things, such as waking up to feed Blue and the Beef, to going on a cattle drive and branding in Las Cruces with Bim's son, every day was something new and exciting. In addition, throughout the experience, I learned something almost every day on the ranch and in town. Whether it was a ranch skill such as identifying sick calf's/cows or learning to drive the backhoe, or it was a town skill such as learning to run wire and simple plumbing, I valued each one and hope to use them in the future when I can be a ranch hand again. Overall, my time at the ranch was one of the most impactful moments of my life and has set me on a path toward being as good a rancher and person as Mr. Eddy Kerr is.

I stayed 3 weeks at the ranch, had a great time at first but unfortunately for me Eddy started flirting with me which made me increasingly uncomfortable. We stayed one night in Las cruces in his appartment and he gave me the choice to either sleep in his bed or sleep in the other room. I went to the room and felt terrible because i was understanding this trip was taking an unexpected turn. A day or two later we had a conversation about this, I was too uncomfortable staying at the ranch and I left. A bitter end to what started as great experience at the ranch.

James, I am sad to read your review. I know you enjoyed riding Blue, the horse, experiencing the ranch, and sharing the experience of cowboying on a real cattle ranch. I know you enjoyed going out to eat at several restaurants, I tend to be very generous entertaining woofers, and we enjoyed several conversations. I know I shared my bisexuality and I regret doing that, as it seemed to make you retreat from being comfortable. The night you speak of in Las Cruces I did not intend to be a invitation to my bed, after you spoke about it the next day I realize I was stumbled in my wording that came out wrong and obviously you took it as a sexual intent. I am sorry for that. I wish you the best.

After spending three weeks on Ed’s ranch, I felt like I’d known him for years. The land is wide, peaceful, and full of history. Ed was patient with every question I threw his way about ranch work, and I was able to pick up a few cool skills in my time there. As others have said—he’s full of stories. His family’s history in the area is fascinating, and he does a good job sharing it. It was a great stay. One worth remembering. Thanks, Bim.

I came to Ed's ranch for two weeks. It was my first time as a woofer. I had an experience that I will never forget. Ed, Bruce and his family are people I will never forget and will always be in my heart. During my stay I was able to share Thanksgiving with Ed's family but also share daily tasks on the ranch such as tattooing cows, herding the cows on horses, putting feed for the animals. And then I loved sometimes cooking for Edd, sharing French culinary culture with him. Then I was also able to participate in the maintenance of the ranch (cleaning, decoration), there is no shortage of work. Furthermore, by proposing to Edd, we went to the chiracahua site for a hike. To get around, not having a license, I had a side by side, so no worries. Then sharing Edd's passion for dancing, I went to a dance class with him. Know that by going to Edd's ranch, it's not just work on a ranch but an authentic experience that you will live, incredible encounters that you will experience. Edd, whatever the future holds (even if I plan to return to Lordsburg one day), you will always remain in my mind (I'm not a believer but I am convinced that you have a beautiful star above you). There are people you don't meet for long but who become part of it as if you were my family, and you are part of it. A big thank you to you, to your family, to Bruce

It's an amazing ranch where you can truly experience cowboy life. Located in the desert, it gets quite hot, but the heat is manageable. I had the chance to ride horses and get a feel for country life with Ed. My main tasks included helping with cattle ranching, which was a lot of fun, and assisting Augustin with fencing work on some of Ed's properties. I also got to explore the surrounding area and visit a few cowboy bars. I highly recommend this experience!

I had the most amazing time with Ed on the Ranch. He picked me up from a closeby town where I arrived by bus. Went grocery shopping together and then he showed me the incredibly big land where there are two houses and a lot of pastures for the cattle. I had my own room in the house with a comfortable bed and a little heater, basic but cute. The house is beautiful but since it is a ranch it can naturally get a bit dusty and it is good to bring proper work clothes that can get dirty etc. On the ranch is also the beautiful horse named blue which I rode a few times. We got up around 7 in the mornings and had breakfast, worked until around noon and then had lunch and continued to work until around 5 or 6 depending on how much there was to do. If I needed to rest or had something personal to do it was not a problem to take my time. Sometimes we ate together. Work included everything from irrigation of a field, sorting firewood, building a cattle gate, moving cattle, feeding baby cows, turning water on or off for cattle or other normal tasks. Ed also took me to a closeby village once where we went to a cowboy like bar with live music. It was a lot of fun and in general Ed is an incredibly wholesome and lovely person who is very fun to work and hang out with. I felt very comfortable and safe there. It’s really a „cowboy life“ there. It’s mostly in the middle of nowhere and you will work only with him and Augustin, his Mexican worker. They are both so lovely. Will never forget :)❤️
