Our farm is a small 8 acre family farm in rural Fredrick County, Maryland. We produce most of our annual vegetables and have a small cut flower business. We have goats, laying hens and barn cats for the enjoyment of having them free range around the pastures. We have a comfortable home and bedroom accommodations for guests. English is our primary language. We would need assistance with routine farm chores but no experience is necessary as we will work side-by-side with volunteers. We are in easy proximity of Washington, DC and Baltimore for sightseeing.  https://youtu.be/ohygjPfuFyI Organic methods: Mulch w/woodchips, paper grain sacks to eliminate weeds, hand weeding, Certifications: We use organic practices but have not gone through the process to be certified Internet access available

Wonderful experience from start to finish! Rick and Mary Ann welcomed us with open arms. Mary Ann's cooking was amazing, and the farm tour she gave my father and I was special. Working alongside Rick was a pleasure, Rick ensured we were comfortable and safe throughout. The day was filled with exciting learning opportunities. Highly recommend! My father and I are eager to return back to the farm 😁

Rick and Mary Anne provided the perfect day-trip WWOOFing experience, and are a great choice for first-timers like me! They are inviting people and have a beautiful small farm and home. A clear list of tasks is provided which they do alongside you, but fun side adventures and personal curiosities are also pursued with enthusiasm. Favorite memory: catching the egg thieving snake and releasing up the road. Thank you!

This was my first time woofing and I had a great day. The host were wonderful and everything we ate was delicious. We had a list of task that carried us through about noon. We fertilized, weeded, planted a few things. We also laid out the components for a custom drip irrigation system. Started drizzly in the morning but the day was bright and breezy. I came to learn and practice and get a rest from the noise pollution of the city. Highly recommend these host. I was sent home with honey, eggs and mint clippings. <3

I loved working with Rick and Mary Ann - not only was their home/farm beautiful, but their company was lovely. Mary Ann is an outstanding cook and prepares breakfast and lunch daily, and Rick is a wonderful teacher. He always worked side by side with me, answering all my questions. He was so thoughtful in assembling daily activities - really paying attention to what would be both helpful, but also exciting and interesting for me. I loved my time at their farm and hope I get to return in the future.

I had my first WWOOF experience at the Country Mouse Farm, and I could not recommend it more. I visited on a beautiful Saturday morning with my dad. We started the morning early with breakfast and a tour of the farm. We weeded and protected tomatoes and potatoes, pruned pear and apple trees, and fed chickens, goats, and bees. I loved getting suited up in the beekeeping suit. Rick and Mary Anne were so warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had a great time talking and working with them. I learned about different farming and gardening techniques and strategies. They even gave me some farm goodies to take home. To anyone looking for a place to learn and work, look no further than the gorgeous Country Mouse Farm. I hope to be back soon.

Wow! My first WWOOF experience will be hard to live up to. Rick and Mary Anne were the most welcoming homestead with a wealth of knowledge about goats, chickens, flowers, and beekeeping. I was able to learn about maintaining bees, spreading seeds, hoop houses, pruning and propagating black raspberry bushes, and so much more. After each task, Rick and I sat down to chat about his experiences and my goals. I spoke with Mary Anne who has more knowledge about goats than anyone I have ever met and is a fantastic person and chef. Thank you for everything!
