Conservation farm for bettering soil, carbon sequestration, habitat, beauty, and human journey.
Colorado
Where we are
This is a 5-acre sustainable conservation farm located in Boulder County, Colorado. Next to hundreds of acres of open space, the farm offers the majestic mountain views that make Boulder known for being a beautiful and happy place. The farm is located in a special spot that's a world away yet with easy access to all modern convenience. We are between Down Boulder and Denver on Hwy 36 and near the surrounding communities of Superior, Louisville, and Lafayette. Hiking, biking and public transportation are nearby and there are a wide range of scenic attractions such as Chautauqua Park, Eldorado Springs State Park.
What we do
Practice sustainable farming, long-term infrastructure improvement and carbon sequestration is our passion and a never-ending relentless journey!
Each season we plant hundreds of trees, compost mushrooms, mulching grow beds to reduce greenhouse pollution, improve soil, and building habitat that are beneficial to bees and native plants.
What you will learn
Land management, dry land farming, weeding, planting, mulching, seeding; Handyman and Landscape Skills through Hands on work; sustainability, reuse and recycle construction projects, build wind breakers and grow beds, zero waste, edible plants, native species, permaculture vermiculture, compost, etc.
We have been transforming neglected land into productive growing area and wild flower gardens one area at a time. This season, we have plans for multiple gardens, add fruit trees, seeding native wildflowers and starting the process of farm house renovation. You will be involved in many exciting projects depending on when you are here.
In general, we are a conservation focused farm that will allow visitors to participate and learn to appreciate human-land relationship (instead of grow crops for marketing and selling). Depending your interest and skills, the projects to be involved include farming, landscaping, handyman repair & remodel, DIY repurposed & recycled materials, and composting, etc. to improve the function and beautify of the land!
Our farm land was affected by the recent Marshall Fire (google Marshall Fire to learn about it). Our focus of the season is to restore the land by a lot of tree planting, remove fire damaged materials, and rebuild a more robust and beautiful sanctuary!
What you will eat
Look up vegetarian cooking recipes before coming because you will primarily be cooking for yourselves with ingredients we provide. We bring in fresh perishable such as milk, bread, fruits, and veggies that we don't grow or not in season 1-2 time per week, and there are over a dozen of different beans, rice, and pastas for you to cook with, cereals, power bars, chips, soups and meals in cans, plus a few kinds of veggies we harvest in the freezer. You will share and rotate cooking and cleaning with others. We don't cook for WWOOFers on a daily basis, but we will sometimes prepare lunch or dinner.
Things to do nearby
Come to experience Pearl Street - the vibrant pedestrian-only downtown mall in Boulder, Boulder Creek Festival, Farmer’s Market, NoBo Art Walk, Open Studios, Shakespeare festival, local brewers and wine tasting, Cannabis lounge, farm-to-table dining. Rock climbing, hiking, and biking – yes everyone is busy with outdoor fun!
About your hosts
Your host are a ‘young’ couple retired from high-tech industries. Mike is a prolific inventor and Eve is a PhD in Chemistry and former corporate executive. We embrace creativity, hardworking, open-mindedness, and living a life with purpose, respect, and love for self, others, and nature. Live a simpler life to minimize the energy consumed and materialism. Seek freedom to maximize the energy and creativity.
You will board at our farm house which is one of the most sought after area of Boulder. We are a few minutes to shops, bike trails, and restaurant but we are also secluded in our location. It is a hidden gem that combines convenience with natural rural setting.
We both are active in hiking and the outdoors: one of us likes rock climbing and the other is a guitar player and avid swimmer.
In your message, please stay your desired dates and length, gender of each person in your group, what brings you to Boulder and why you like to visit us, what skills and attributes you have that you think will make you a welcome guest, what do you do with things get hard (and yes be prepared that farm work is hard physical work).
Photo ID is required for daily WWOOFER
Photo ID and application form is required for WWOOFER who requires boarding
Liability waiver is required for everyone before entering the farm and/or host's residence
Sorry that we do not accept children or pets even though we love them.
We welcome local day wwoofers and those who can commit to a minimum of 1 week visit. Shorter visit may be granted for those who have special skills to contribute. If you feel you are fit and ready to work hard and play hard, please tell us why you want to visit, what will you contribute, and what do you hope to take away from the exchange. Boulder is a tourist hot spot and housing cost here is among one of the highest in the nation. If your intention is a housing alternative to a tourist trip, please seek airbnb and don't come.
Certifications: We use only natural compost and fertilizers. Have not go through certification process as we are not focused on selling produce. Our focus are trees and soil to yield greater carbon sequestration
Current projects: Weeding, installing pollinator gardens, mulch, fence, retainer wall, compost pile, grow bed and walkway building

Eve was an amazing mentor 10/10 would recommend! I was there for about a week and got great experience in hugelculture gardening as well as planting fruit trees. The land is beautiful and peaceful and the people reflect that energy thanks for all the fun!

April 2026
I WWOOFed here this March. Overall, I did have a positive experience, and the code of conduct effectively outlined the work/life balance. I'm grateful to my hosts for providing sufficient accommodations. It was clearly communicated that my tasks would be more focused on prepping for spring.
In contrast to many of the positive reviews, my actual experience on the farm was less positive. The ‘zero-waste’ lifestyle wasn’t clearly explained or emphasized (outside of the code of conduct). The work felt transactional; it was not focused on learning and instead focused on how much work I could output during my hours. My work was solely landscape aesthetics focused, and it was unclear how it was connected to ‘conservation’. Another odd task we worked on was creating mulch beds and pruning multiple Russian Olives on the property, which Colorado classifies as a nonnative invasive species. I found it strange that a farm that says they ‘promote conservation of native species’ aids the growth of invasive species of plants (where birds will spread them far away from the farm). When I brought this up to the hosts it was quickly dismissed. Compared to the three other experiences I had, where I connected with the host and the community, I had no real connection with the hosts, and interacted in a limited manner. Overall, I felt that the description of the farm was quite different from the experience I had.
I hope future WWOOFers can have a more impactful experience :)

My observation of you: intelligent and you like to learn what's considered novel to you. However, your communication style - constantly interrupting when I was speaking, is your greatest barrier to embracing the nature of learning. You are highly judgmental, critical, and self-centered which I didn't find it enjoyable to deal with.
Regarding the Russian olive trees, you were quick to form your judgement while refused to learn and give considerations to several other aspects of the matter. Yes, it is on the invasive list. However, it is also explained to you and a fact that they are not invasive on the farm environment; and to eliminate them will involve the use of harmful chemicals repeated a few times.
We don't bow to you like other hosts do to wwoofers. You simply can't feel happy to be in service from the exchange, that's unfortunate but it's your choice. I didn't leave you a review because I don't feel the need to circle the negativity. It's your journey.

I really enjoyed my time at this host farm. It was my first WWOOFing experience, and it definitely set a high bar. I stayed for roughly six weeks, from late August to early October, and had the opportunity to learn a lot about homesteading and sustainable living.
The accommodations were comfortable and offered a good balance between privacy and community. There was plenty of space for quiet time, while it was also easy to connect and share meals or conversations with others.
The hosts were incredibly kind and generous, and I appreciated their openness in sharing knowledge and experience. I worked more closely with one of them on day-to-day projects and learned a great deal thanks to their patience and expertise.
Overall, it was a very positive and rewarding experience. I highly recommend this host to other WWOOFers ready to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and enjoy a supportive, welcoming environment.

Communing with the Earth at this garden was a highlight of my summer. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet Eve and Mike, and another fellow WWOOFer who was around the same time as I was!! I learned about + removed invasive species, and helped to set up a prairie dog fence which I am happy to have helped with :) Eve is extremely hospitable, will make you feel cared for AND makes delicious lunches!!

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful garden and am so grateful for this experience! Eve and Mike were the most welcoming, friendly hosts, and I will miss time spent with them! I will always cherish the memory of watching Mike play music at open mic night, our mushroom foraging outing, and shared meals. The work load is very fair and everything was exactly as expected as laid out by the guidelines sent out before you commit. Eve is very accommodating by assigning you the tasks that you feel best suited for. She is also a great and patient teacher, always willing to answer any questions, giving praise and encouragement, and providing constructive feedback on how to work better and more efficiently. The location was incredible, with gorgeous mountain views and nearby access to great hiking trails and fun city life. If you want to learn more about permaculture from some very caring, knowledgeable people while also getting to explore beautiful Colorado, I would definitely recommend this opportunity!
