We are a growing family here at sunrise… Im Marcia and I live here with my two daughters, a beautiful young couple that originally came as woofers and now live here permanently, and a Farmer friend who just moved here this month and we are looking forward to growing more in community and consciousness. We live work and play on our beautiful organic farm,in the Sierra foothills near grass valley California. We feel truly blessed to be on this lovely land, with its good water and soil, beautiful views, and right by the amazing yuba river! We are primarily a homestead, trying to live on the land as much as possible while still enjoying our wonderful community.. We grow a wide variety of crops, orchard with peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, figs, apples, pears persimmons!.. just about all the veggies that grow in our climate, various berries including blueberries raspberries strawberries and mulberries; nut trees, flowers, plants for selling and much more! We do some farmers markets, plant sales, very small csa and some wholesale..still primarily we just try and grow enough to keep us happily eating and sharing from our gardens year round while keeping up with our two children!.. Therefore we do a lot of preserving, from canning to drying, freezing to fermenting, and plenty of cooking and enjoying..we always have a lot to do on that end!..We also always have various other projects going on... we just built a very simple outdoor kitchen for wwoofers and have plans to build a bigger nicer one soon!.the one for now has all you need to prepare meals and also we will surely be inviting you to dine with us as we love sharing food! We have a composting toilet and outdoor shower and bathtub with hot water for your use, at this time we are offering tent space and have a couple trailers available, also if you have van/ camper ext...you are welcome to bring that...We just recently moved out of our old house and into our little cabin that we renovated and plan to eventually renovate/ cob the old existing structure.. we also just built a food storage shed that has now turned into a tiny house that we are renting on Hipcamp... the current building project is adding rooms for my girls in our cabin which they are very much looking forward to!....so as you can see there is always plenty of fun opportunities for building and general farm maintenance .. We ask for a trade of 4 hrs a day with exception of Saturday which we also don’t work, however you are free to join us more if you desire! Otherwise you are free to enjoy this wonderful place! A walk to the river, relax in a hammock or adventure into endless possibilities! This area is really special.. with its beautiful nature..from hiking to hot springs, rivers to lakes, and the picturesque towns that surround.. we live in amazing community, that has so much wonderful music, all kinds of fun classes, and just so many great events of all kinds! As you can probably see, we love it here..and we hope you will too! Please feel free to contact us with any questions..happy travels! This was my first WWOOFING experience and it was amazing! I went in as a novice, who simply wanted to immerse myself and learn about organic farming. What I received in return was an absolutely life-transforming experience. My time with Marcia and their family was loving, educational, soul-enriching, and deeply communal. They were very patient with me as a beginner and welcomed me with open arms and heart, and treated me like family. Marcia is a wise soul who knows so much and loves sharing her knowledge freely. I also loved spending time with the girls!! One of my favorite parts of being their and they truly became embedded on my heart. I loved waking up to farm under the sunset and beautiful mountain view, breaking for a hearty vegan lunch, working a bit more, and then going down to the river in the evenings for dinner and social time. Whar I learned is that I only needed a few things as a human being to be fulfilled. Creator, creation, and community. That is what Sunrise Farms gave to me and I will be forever grateful. I am now an emergent farmer and am so happy this farm helped give me my wings. THANK YOU!!

Best first-time WWOOFing experience I could have asked for!! Marcia was a kind and generous host; now I get to call her and her sweet family my friends :) I have so many beautiful memories at Sunrise Farms. The Yuba river, Nevada county, and the Sierra Nevada mountains are my new happy place. Thank you --

Sunrise Farms has been one of my favorite blessings the universe has gifted me! My first WWOOF’ing experience was at Marcia’s farm back in September and I actually haven’t visited another farm. I have returned to Sunrise Farms 3 times and I plan to continue returning to visit because my experience here is always full of so much love, joy, healing and abundant energy. As someone who had no previous experience in farming or WWOOF’ing, I was nervous when I first arrived but Marcia and Ovill were so welcoming and accommodating. They made my stay very comfortable (and still do!). Marcia makes the best meals for dinner and Ovill plays the best music during the day and they’re just super cool people with genuine souls. They really know their stuff and have taught me so much about farming and building. They are always willing to teach you which I love because I never feel like I am asking too many questions lol. Also... their two daughters are bundles of joy and so fun to be around! They also know a lot and will teach you things about the land if you are a newbie like myself :) Highly recommend it here <3

Good vibes all around. Marcia and Ovill are very welcoming and put a lot of love into their farm, and working with them is fun and easy. The kids keep things lively and entertaining. There are lots of opportunities to learn and participate, and you get more out of the experience the more you put in. I stayed in my van here in the spring and helped mainly with starting plants in the greenhouse, watering, and preparing garden beds for the new season, with various other jobs in between to keep things interesting. I really felt like I was part of a community by the time I had to leave. The farm is in a really beautiful area. The 20-minute walk down to the yuba river is a nice private hike to a captivating destination. (I always brought a book but usually just ended up staring at the river.) If you have a car there are some great trails within 30 minutes. I saw lots of cool wildlife out there...the whole area is pulsing with life and beauty. Also Marcia makes amazing homecooked dinners just about every night. I could go on. This was a great first wwoofing experience!

Marcia and Ovill were the most welcoming people ever! This was my first WWOOFing experience and they did everything they could to make me feel welcome. They had me over for dinner nightly and I got to experience super yummy vegan food. Ovill was great with his reggae music playing while we worked on the new cabin and Marcia always made sure I felt comfortable. The girls, Azzaria and Amara, were bundles of joy and I loved playing with them in the afternoons and after dinner. Definitely recommend this place -- beautiful views, lovely people, and super welcoming spaces. Thanks for being such great and accomodating hosts!

We had an amazing time at Sunrise Farms. Marica and Ovill were awesome hosts, and we felt so welcome in their home. We got to do many different projects on the property and learned a lot about gardening and life on the farm. The accommodations were nice and cozy and the WWOOFer kitchen was always well stocked and we loved cooking with veggies from the garden! Azzaria and Amara were a joy to be around and they made our visit especially meaningful and memorable. Marica's cooking was lovely, especially the tomato sauce :) During our short stay, Marcia and her family made us feel so at home, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
