Family farm located in peaceful sandhills of Nebraska
Nebraska
Our family farm is located in a peaceful, quiet location in the sandhills of Nebraska. Organic gardening since 1979, I have alot of experience to offer you. We have a greenhouse where we grow crops, lemon and lime trees, and baby plants for the garden. It would be beneficial if you could stay the whole season, February through October. Shorter stays are also accepted.
We have a guest cabin for private living, camping area and RV hookups. Pets are not accepted as we cannot ensure their safety from coyotes.
Restoring the farm and orchard are among some of the activities. Goats, chickens and ducks are common farm chores. Wood splitting, planting, weeding and watering are among the main activities that help is required.
The kitchen is available for your personal cooking and our menu is flexible for most palates. All are responsible to cleanup after themselves. Laundry site is available.
There is a large lake within travel distance, Nebraskaland day concerts and parade. Sauna and Massage therapy are available on site. No smoking, alcohol or drugs on the property. We enjoy quiet peaceful gardening days, meditation and prayers for peace of our planet, campfires and drumming, so if you enjoy that kind of atmosphere, then we welcome you. Peace to all who enter here. Blessings, Diane at Healing Arts Organics
Please be ready to help get the farm ready. Some jobs take more strength so be ready for some hard work, but we also take naps and rest in the hammock. Please no alcohol, smoking or drugs here. This is an organic and holistic environment. Please honor privacy, quiet and clean up after yourself.
Organic methods: Worm castings, peat moss, grass clippings, compost and leaves are used to replenish and build up the soil. Beneficial bugs are used to combat undesirable bugs in the greenhouse. Wild turkeys and chickens assist in clearing bugs in the outer areas. Neem oil and insecticidal soap are used on plants as needed. No chemical sprays have been used on this farm. Fish emulsion and kelp are my fertilizers and manure is worked into the soil at the beginning of the season. Only organic vegetable seed is planted here.
Certifications: I follow all guidelines of organic growing and will apply for certification when the farm is producing more.
Current projects: Tree planting and trimming, greenhouse growing, microgreens growing and packaging, fall harvest and garden clean up.
