Our farm is located within the Pisgah National Forest in the mountains of NC. The farm is situated 15 minutes from Burnsville, NC and 45 minutes from Ashville, NC. Our activities include various crops such as beans, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, etc. that are utilized on the farm and sold at local farmers markets. We have an old and newly planted apple and peach orchard and blueberries, blackberries, and this year we expanding our raspberries. We are bee keepers so we produce honey and have horses or Llamas and chickens to provide eggs for our homestead. We are bakers and have a homestead kitchen where we bake product to be sold at local farmers markets. We also have a hoop high tunnel greenhouse which expands our garden and produces additional product from plant sets. We raise turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday. We have a full wood working shop where we produce cutting boards, wood bowls, and various furniture pieces. Non agricultural activities include construction to improve the infrastructure of the farm. We currently are renovating our 200 year old barn to which is work in progress. Our guest private accommodations are located in a log cabin with two bed rooms, living room, and two baths. Assessable to our full kitchen to prepare meals. Refrigerator, two stoves, microwave, etc. Our volunteers would be of course be kind to animals, have a positive work ethic with a willingness to learn and our work schedule is very flexible. Fun things to do include, hiking, fishing, swimming, Mt. Mitchell state park, and relaxing in the country. We suggest a minimum of two week stay to increase the amount of knowledge available. Organic methods: organic fertilizers. sprays. and soil amendments using compost Certifications: waiting for certification Current projects: Planting gardens, apple tree upkeep, care of animals, rebuilding Turkey coop. I WWOOFed here for about 2.5 weeks in November and enjoyed it so much that I'll be coming back for a few more weeks in December! There is such a variety to do, truly no two days looked the same. Each day starts at 8am with feeding the animals, and then John will provide a rundown of the different tasks to be completed. Some may be larger tasks that could span a couple days, and others may be quick things that can stack together, but either way, John is very reasonable about his expectations and the timeline. A few days were spent baking with Lynn in the kitchen instead of working in the barn or garden, and that was also a blast! Both John and Lynn are so generous, welcoming, and patient. They really understand that WWOOFing isn't about "free labor" and it's more than just a work exchange, it's also an exchange of knowledge, and they're very intentional about answering those "how" and "why" questions before you even have to ask. They want to be sure you're having a positive experience. And they both have a great sense of humor, Lynn will tell stories that make you laugh out loud and John is the king of witty one-liners. I have some hilarious memories from hanging out in the pasture with them in the evenings. The WWOOFer cabin is also an incredible accommodation, it probably has to be among the best you'll find at a farm. Overall, I felt very welcomed into their lives and can't thank them enough for their generosity, and I'm excited to come back!!

John and Lynn were incredible hosts. Their farm is absolutely beautiful, and the WWOOFer cabin exceeded our expectations. This was our first WWOOFing experience, and Pink Boot Farm was the perfect fit. John and Lynn are patient, knowledgeable teachers who were always happy to answer our questions. The work was engaging, meaningful, and never overwhelming. We truly couldn’t recommend this farm more highly!

John and Lynn were the best hosts! This was my first time WWOOF-ing, and they were incredibly kind, patient, and eager to form a close relationship with my friend and I. Their farm is beautiful, the animals are so sweet, and the Saturday Farmers Market provided a great way to connect with the community. The work is rewarding, intentional, and not overwhelming. We enjoyed our time with John and Lynn and were sad to leave at the end of our experience. We cannot recommend Pink Boot Farms more!

My experience at this Farm was amazing!! John & Lynn, as well as the other longtime woofer who was there, were just about the sweetest people I have ever met :) I was coming far from home (LA) and had some family stuff going on and they were beyond kind and understanding throughout my time there. The farm is on the most beautiful plot of land and I loved spending time with the horses, learning about honey-making and caring for chickens, and in general just experiencing what it's like to be on a farm (it was my first time!) The work was well-balanced-- not too much and not too little! The cabin where the woofers stay is so charming and perfect. Highly recommend! They welcomed me into their house as if I was a family member. Missing them already!

I had such an amazing time staying with John and Lynn. Their property is absolutely breathtaking and their farm has a little something for everyone. I spent a lot of time working with the animals, in the garden, and even getting to practice some carpentry skills. The accommodations for the Wwoofers is also incredible. The cozy 2 bedroom cabin that they have is a very easy and comfortable place to call home and comes equipped with a full commercial kitchen. When Hurricane Helene hit our area, John and Lynn opened up their home to me and my fellow wwoofer where we had amazing meals, conversations, and movie nights. Their kindness cannot be understated and the work that I was doing during my stay was very fun and fulfilling. I can easily recommend wwoofing at Pink Boot Farms to anyone looking to gain experience in homesteading and living in the beautiful part of the world that is Western North Carolina. Much Love!

I recently spent a month on John and Lynn's farm and had a great experience. John and Lynn, the owners and operators, were fantastic hosts—both incredibly knowledgeable and always eager to share what they've learned over the years about farming, baking, and running a business. My daily tasks included picking apples and raspberries, feeding the chickens, turkeys, llamas, and barn cats, collecting eggs, mucking out the coops, and maintaining the 200-year-old barn through various construction projects. I also helped water and weed the vegetable garden. In the later part of each week, the focus was baking with Lynn, using fresh ingredients from the farm. On Saturday mornings, we sold the baked goods and honey at the local market. The work schedule was balanced, with most tasks completed between 8 a.m. and noon, and just a brief evening check-in to feed the animals and settle them in for the night. The farm's setting was beautiful, and I enjoyed spending time in the pasture every evening after chores, getting to know John, Lynn, and their dogs. The accommodation was a cozy cabin with fast internet, and the nearest town was just a short drive away. The farm’s proximity to Asheville and excellent hiking trails made adventures on my day off very attainable. I highly recommend spending some time at the farm. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about farm life, connect with nature, and get to know some great WWOOF hosts!
