PLEASE NOTE: Communication with the host via a phone call is required for any requested stays. Cozy instructional facility (not a farm) with room accommodations for 8. Pool table, darts, ice cream, snow cone and popcorn machines and an industrial working kitchen. I will offer means of transportation when needed. I’m a retired Plant Sciences Professor and current High School instructor for the Construction courses. I can offer my guests projects on irrigation, rain water catchment, welding, concrete work, greenhouse construction, home building, solar, wind power, soil enrichment, Aquaponics, plantings, safety and construction certification, canning and cooking. I have my guests choose a project that they can finish within their stay. Artists welcome to do on site art work. Organic methods: I use no chemicals for pest control. Certifications: Not registered Current projects: Greenhouses building, planter beds, irrigation, art, sewing, home improvements, soil regeneration, wrought iron projects, fencing, sound system installation, lighting, deck renewal, home painting and home canning. Steve is a very good host. He is helpful and helps you find good food in the area. He is very passionate about his work and wants to help people and hear your stories. The place is nice and his family makes you feel right at home.

This was my first WWOOF experience. Spent 6 weeks there and really loved the experience. Although online the location is set to Colorado Springs, the homestead is located in the unincorporated town of Ellicott, about 40 minutes away from Colorado Springs and cell service is spotty. The landline will be your bestfriend if the large storms dont mess with the starlink wifi. Steve was clear about his 20-25 hours and of the culture at the house. Him and the guests he invites treasure community, enjoy spending time outside of our work hours together talking, cooking, brainstorming or teaching eachother of what we learned that day. Steve is a teacher so Casa Victoria is usually only open to WWOOFERS during his summer break. For those that struggled at first, Steve's teaching method is like a college professor (he was one for years). Steve makes suggestions, has many projects and allows people to work by themselves or together. He isn't strict, just wants things done with all the tools and supplies he already has and done as well as possible. He does demos where everyone can learn, he checks in on you and helps you out if you need the extra help. He encourages us to explore the town and go places outside our comfort zone such as a field trip to the redneck auction, a group meet up for the Manitou Incline or simply hike the Garden of the Gods. This place has the most beautiful skies I've ever seen. I will definitely return in the future with better skills.

Steve was an excellent host! I only stayed for a couple of days but felt immediately at home with the other WWOOFers and Steve. There are lots of interesting things to do in the area and Steve has lots of stories and advice. There was plenty of work to do but also copious free time so it was a rejuvenating stay, as long as you accomplish your goals. This is not a farm, but there are still lots of agriculture and art projects available. I would recommend this experience!

This was a wonderful experience. The expectations are made clear before you arrive (20 hours/week) and you can do your work around your own schedule, often working on your own task around/outside the house. Steve was a pleasure to have as a host, ensuring the house is stocked with any food you may want to munch on, while often preparing food for the household every night (sometimes 3x day). He treasures a sense of community and likes to have people stay that have those same values and are willing to participate. Steve is a shop teacher and it shows as he encourages those that stay to learn new skills, always thoroughly explaining and exemplifying how if needed. He is patient and willing to re-explain anytime. I learned how to build and maintain a water irrigation system and sharpen blades using an angle grinder. You can have your choice of specific tasks from the long ongoing list of things that need to be done around the property. I highly recommend a stay here!

Steve is an amazing host and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get into WWOOFing. This my first experience WWOOFing, and Steve made it a great start. The cooking is phenomenal and there's always enough for leftovers if you want to have it again. Steve is all about teaching you how to do the work and is willing to watch and advise until you get the hang of whatever you are working on that day. He is extremely flexible about when you work as long as whatever you are trying to do gets done. I helped build the frame of a shed with another WWOOFer, and then set up an automated irrigation system as my own project. Outside of work, Steve is a very experience man and loves to share his stories and knowledge with WWOOFers. He also took me along on some community hikes and I had a great time seeing the landscape with a group I would have never met otherwise. With an amazing host and amazing location, I don't know if I could give this a stronger recommendation.
