2026 farming season:
We are welcoming up to 5 WWOOFers for the season.
Length of Stay: 2 weeks to 6 months
Exchange: 20 hours per week of farm work (see below for details). Part-time work is available in town at coffee shops, grocery, etc. Some WWOOFers have also worked remotely. There is typically landscaping work in the canyon that is also available.
Hours: We will work 4 days per week, 5 hours per day (20 hours per week total). We work from 6:30am to 10:30am with an additional flexible evening hour, because early morning and evening are the nicest times to be working.
Housing & Food: See below for details. WWOOFers have a tent village area with outdoor shower, composting toilet and outdoor kitchen to share.
Cell phone & internet: 5 bars of cell reception. We don't offer internet but you can use your mobile hotspot or similar methods
Weather: It gets HOT in the summer here! We have cold dunk tanks and swimming holes that make it lively and possible to survive in the desert heat.

Welcome! We are a small, organic seed farm & homestead on 22 acres in a beautiful canyon in Southwestern Colorado. Our focus is growing open-pollinated, diverse, genetically resilient vegetable, legume, herb and flower seeds for regional and online sale . We also produce organic veggies and fruits for home consumption. Our farm is located in the Four Corners area of Colorado in a sandstone agricultural canyon. Our land borders Ute Reservation on the south and Canyon of the Ancients National Monument on the north.
For the past decade we have grown a diversity of crops for resilience and adaptation to a rapidly changing and increasingly variable climate. Our main seed crops include: Beans, Squash, Corn, Zucchini, Amaranth, Pollinator-Friendly Wildflowers, Watermelons, Greens, Root Vegetables, Onions, Garlic, Tomatoes, Chiles, Tomatillos, Herbs and more.
We have been growing seeds for 15+ years and 2026 will be our 6th season on this land. We are starting from the ground UP here, which is very exciting and presents many unique challenges.
We are excited to host rugged farm interns who would like to learn how to grow produce, with a focus on growing and saving seeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to help create a small-scale organic farm from the ground-up, and learn the ins and outs of seed farming. It would be perfect for someone who may want to start their own seed company, seed farm or seed organization someday.
WWOOFers will enjoy education and hands-on experience in organic gardening, permaculture and seed cultivation. Activities include plant care (watering, irrigating, planting, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, seed saving and cleaning, packaging, pruning, tree nursery), food preservation, and building projects.
We have 2 friendly dogs and 2 cats. Other friendly furry friends are only possible with approval (one of our dogs is not great with most other dogs, plus your animal must get along with other animals and be safe and relaxed around children + adults).
We will provide:
*A space for interns' own van/camper/RV/tiny house on wheels/tent/etc (we have electric hookup and can fill water tanks). There are beautiful spots for tent camping and RV parking. OR there is a small camper with kitchenette available at times to stay in.
*Fully equipped outdoor kitchen with big propane stovetop, sink, grill, food storage, mini-frig, etc.
*Composting toilet
*Washer & dryer & clothesline
*Farm-fresh produce when available and food staples, plus a gift card to the Cortez City Market. We provide food for 3 meals per day.
*A diversity of open-pollinated seeds
*Tons of education and hands-on experience
*FUN, new friends, swimming hole, endless hiking trails and ruins to explore!
A reliable vehicle is necessary here, because we are in a remote, rural area. 20 minutes to Cortez with grocery store/restaurants/hardware store/yoga studio/Walmart/etc. 1 hr 15 minutes to Durango with Natural Grocers, extensive shopping & entertainment.
We speak English and Spanish (almost fluent). LGBTQIA+ friendly. Kids are possible though we do have plenty of hazards to be aware of on the farm. Please discuss with us.
We mostly eat meat and veggies and whole foods, but you're welcome to eat whatever you'd like! **A note for vegans/vegetarians: We do occasionally butcher animals on the farm and consume animal products including our meat, eggs and milk. Please think about whether that environment will be suitable for you when applying.
*Please note we are an alcohol-free, drug-free farm. In addition, since one of our main crops is tomato seed, we do not allow tobacco and cigarette smokers because of the easy transmission of tobacco mosaic virus to tomatoes.
Organic methods: Composting, mulching, chemical-free pest control, fertilizing with manure, rotational grazing, cover cropping
Certifications: Not certified yet but considering certification. We use only organic practices!
