Hi, we are a small working farm in the Texas hill country. I grow a big garden, raise meat birds, quail, rabbits, and occasionally pigs. I have laying hens, raise and milk dairy goats, and have ducks for eggs and entertainment. My main operation for years has been horse training and I’ve been doing that for over 40 years. I love to teach horse 101. If you are a rider, all the better. We have a small pack(3) of well behaved dogs and a few cats. The 8 acre property has 3 small houses. All occupied by daughters and a camper for weoofers. I love to cook delicious meals and would be happy to share the evening meal but will set the camper up for cooking ones one breakfast and lunch. Chores would include mucking pens, weeding garden, grooming horses, helping with feeding animals, stocking animal feed, milking goats, making goat cheese, ( in season) I try to line up bigger projects when I have help. Like burning brush, repairing fences, spreading compost. There is no end to the chore list. We are up early and are done by noon. The Texas heat can be extreme in July and august. But Fall goes until November. Spring starts in early March. We have a long growing season. The area around us has rivers and creeks for swimming. Pedernales state park is 15 miles away. The towns of wimberley and Blanco are nearby and both have swimming / hiking. Austin is 35 miles east. The area is rich with wildlife. We see hawks, deer, fox, caracara, etc on a daily basis. Birds include painted buntings, titmouse, wren, cardinals, chickadee, and more. All in all it’s a pretty blissful place to be. Is Organic methods: I try to organize my plants and animals so that their environments add to and enrich other plants and animals. For example, the duck pond gets mucky and drains into my garden. The fussy goats that won’t clean up spilled grain gets eaten by the chickens. All manure and plant scrapes are composted. Chickens help turn the compost piles. Certifications: Not certified as I don’t have a large production of good. We produce enough to sustain friends and family mostly. Current projects: Horse training, gardening, goat milking and cheese making Internet access available

I feel very lucky to have stayed with Kelly for 3 weeks on her beautiful property! The work is mainly farm chores & tending to food and water of animals during the morning, I got into the groove of the routine quickly. The camper I stayed in has everything you need, running water, fully operable kitchen (which you don't need to use much- Kelly is a fantastic chef!) and a bathroom with shower. Great conversations with Kelly and her family, education about horses and farm maintenance, and a beautiful area just down the road from main street Wimberley, an adorable town to walk around in. I highly recommend Magical Farm, which is aptly named!

Staying with Kelly was my first WWOOFing experience, and let me say, I feel she set the bar pretty high. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I’m walking away with new skills and amazing memories. Throughout the duration of my stay, I was able to work in some capacity with all of the animals - horses, goats, chickens, and rabbits (and had a good time with the dogs and cats as well). I went into this with the desire and willingness to do and try anything and Kelly came through with a variety of tasks that have left me feeling capable and independent. I helped mend fence lines, gather eggs, clear brush, pick vegetables, milk the goat, start a garden from scratch, muck stalls of course, care for horses, remake a rabbit pen, and so much more. My tasks felt well rounded and even the seemingly mundane chores felt exciting to me. I learned things from basic feeding to minor veterinary care. I can’t emphasize enough the capability I feel walking away from the farm, and it has truly inspired me to dream of taking a piece of this experience and incorporating it into my future when I settle down and buy a home. I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about Kelly herself as well. Kelly is the sweetest soul and I was lucky enough to spend time with some of her family and friends as well who are equally amazing people. I came for a farm life experience and to be around the animals, but had no idea the connections I would make with Kelly and her people. We worked together, laughed to...

Kelly and her daughters were inviting, knowledgeable, and kind. I learned so much about life in Texas hill country, horse training, gardening, goats, chickens, maintaining a farm, and more. I'm forever grateful for my time on the farm and can't wait to come back again!

I love my friends at this wonderful farm. We will be in contact for life. What a great time and loved the horses and all other animals. They wouldn’t let me work enough but we figured it out! Haha! If you want to be part of this family’s life and the life of their farm and animals don’t hesitate and reach out to Wwoof with them!❤️thanks Kelly!

I had the best time at Kelly’s magical farm. I learned a bunch about farming, animals and horseback riding. And felt she did everything she can in order for me to have a great experience and see as much from the lifestyle, culture and location there. kelly is an amazing and warm person with a big heart and deep wisdom. If you’re thinking about the Texan farm experience then her place is a must ❤️

This place is so amazing. The family is extremely welcoming, loving, and eager to get to know you and teach you all that they can. It’s such a peaceful setting with so much nature, wildlife, and opportunity for outdoor activities close by. I truly enjoyed building a connection with them and being able to contribute in any way possible towards the farm. They are a great family with a huge heart and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
