Plant nursery/Homestead with focus on native, edible, and useful plants, w/Mushrooms, chickens, bees
Georgia
We are a certified live plant nursery and sell at Atlanta area farmers markets. We focus on native, edible, useful, medicinal and pollinator-friendly plants. We have about 2 acres and are also growing grains and have chickens for eggs, and bees for honey (still consider ourselves inexperienced in both).
Organic methods: Low-Income/Low-Cost, Low-Input Food/Herb/Flower production, Composting, Companion planting, Pollinator-friendly gardens, Seed saving, no pesticides or herbicides, hugelkulture, terracing, forest farming, rain barrels, natural erosion control. Using natural, free, cheap local materials for building.
Certifications: I am only selling seedlings, and while I am organic we're not certified organic.
Current projects: Terracing hillsides, 2-3 more chicken coops build out, establishing bee hives, larger composting center, felling trees for more sunlight, planting seedlings, watering, transplanting, harvesting, saving seeds, collecting eggs, cleaning out chicken coops, build squirrel/bird/rabbit/chipmunk/deer/possom deterrents, wattling fences, creating spaces for water overflow to prevent flooding in heavy rain events along our creek, expand native plant ecosystem, install bat houses for mosquito control, create lovely space for outside education or event space (labelling all flora and sustainable growing methods), more herb spirals and keyhole gardens...so much more!

I had a great stay at Emily's place! Emily is so knowledgeable about plants and gardening and very interesting to talk with. I enjoyed working with her and hearing her perspectives on life and homesteading.
While I was there, I mostly worked on seed starting, planting, and organizing some things in the yard. I got to learn the names of many plants and their characteristics, as well as Emily's method and philosophy for maintaining her property and running her business. I love how she figures out creative ways to reuse free items or even objects found on her property to build her homestead and garden, like using stones she dug up to create a firepit.
She said she wants her homestead to be a relaxing place to WWOOF, and it is! There is plenty of time to chill out and spend some time looking at the creek or laying in the hammock or doing whatever you want. I really enjoyed the food she made, too, including a pesto made from stinging nettles!

Emily was absolutely lovely and I had a blast during my day working with her! She walked us through her property and explained her projects, thought processes, and to do lists. She cooked us lunch from scratch, which was super yummy. We started a whole lot of seeds and mulched her garden. She had a whole lot of native plants and taught me about lots of them, which is an area of interest for me and I greatly appreciated. I would absolutely go back in the future, highly recommend!

Emily and her family were very kind and they were very welcoming to me!
I learned a lot about propagating plants, and the outdoor work we did together allowed me to learn about how blackberries and raspberries are planted.
Emily also prepared a delicious meal for me, and she went the extra mile to make sure I felt at-home. She is a very pleasant and open-minded person, and she is easy to have a conversation with.
I am very grateful to Emily for giving me the opportunity for my first WWOOF experience! She is a great mentor for people who want to learn more about farming like me!

What a wonderful experience! Emily is an engaged person when it comes to gardening. She was never tired of answering my questions, loves to teach and believes in team work. That way, I could benefit the most from her ample knowledge. WWOOFing with her was fun. She is also an excellent cook and her dishes were delicious. I also appreciated the interesting conversations we had. From the very first moment I felt like a family member. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Emily is a wonderful host and well educated in plant life and land management. There was so much to be learned, I wish I could have retained it all. I'm excited for Emily's vision for her property and her passion to educate people on the benefits of growing your own food for ourselves, the animals that we depend upon, and the planet.
