Dairy & multi-species pasture meat business offering stone fruit, honey & specialty storage crops
Colorado
Heyo!
My best friend Joshua and myself Nick and my two kiddo's have been on an epic journey in agriculture now marking 12 years in 2026. In April of 2021 we located our forever farm and ranch in Avondale, CO 17 miles east of Pueblo.
We are excited to be the new land stewards of this amazing 45 acre property that has been certified Organic for almost 28 years.
Our farm consists of a 400 Tart Cherry Orchard.
Presently 5 acres of specialty crop production, popcorn and garlic, a 1400 square foot hoop house tomato production and spring nursery plant sale and pasture for days.
Our primarily focus on farm is our dairy operation 30 head servicing over 100 families in 4 counties at pasturesofliberty.com and our pasture poultry operation 1,000's .
We manage one of the longest standing Local Food aggregation and distribution companies.
ValleyRootsFoodHub.com working with over 100 producers and 4000 products. Servicing the Arkansas River Valley Basin.
We have good husbandry practices for our animals, continue to grow our business and get our community one step closer to a local sustainable secure food system.
We serve on 11 Agricultural Boards combined both Locally and Interstate. Lets us show you the ropes.
We are LOCAL. INTEGRITY. FOOD.
Presently:
We plant for education on seasonal eating and perennial crops along with annuals.
We are moving animals daily.
We are processing poultry weekly during the spring and early summer months and again in November for holiday turkey orders.
Daily tasks consist milking cows OAD, bottling and distribution, as well as watering ,feeding, building, weeding, harvesting, washing, packaging, more weeding, hosting campsite guest, irrigation (furrow irrigation) reasoning, and sharing meals together.
We will ONLY be hosting 6 month stays due to the size of our livestock operations and the educational experience we are offering. We can host up to 2 WWOOFers April through November. We are open to conversations with folks seeking less time than this with at LEAST a 3 month minimum, if it's a good fit.
We have a schoolie for a couple or a camper is available for a single in the "Gypsy wagon" as well .
There is our community kitchen space, access to shower and laundry ( hang dry).
Tent sites and parking is also available if you have your own rig. You will need your own vehicle (talk to us).
NO PETS its nothing personal but we have two older farm dogs on farm , two working dogs, cats and a multitude of animals to get your squeezes and loves in with.
Diets!!! We are a PASTURE MEAT BUSINESS, we also grow vegetables.
All meals are pretty much cooked together with intention.
When the farm is in its peeks of abundance helping yourself to the garden within reason and when orders are met is encouraged.
Get your foodie on! Explore the tastes and joys of seasonal eating.
We are 30 minutes from the Pueblo Reservoir, hiking, biking, fishing, rock climbing, this is Colorado so an hour or less in any direction gives you a taste of the wonderful state we call home.
We look forward to meeting you !

I got to spend a month on this farm in July and I wish I could have stayed longer! Nick and Josh are great hosts and mentors. Their passion and hard work is incredibly inspirational and I hope to take what I've learned and apply it to my own life. If you want to learn about regenerative agriculture and the ins and outs of farming, then this is the place for you. I spent my time feeding/watering the farm animals, weeding, harvesting, transplanting, working the farmers market, and a lot more! I was made to feel at home and I will look back fondly at my time there. Thank you for hosting me!

This is the real deal. Their passion for local food and their animals is very inspirational. They were very open to answering all of my agricultural questions and sharing every part of the experience of running the farm. The work and schedule varied everyday depending on what needed to get done. Communicate what you want to learn and do, and make it happen!
The accomodations now are a shared bunk room in the main house with other WWOOFers, but I was able to stay in a small basic camper across the property to have my own space, which was fantastic.
I was able to explore some around the area as well - swimming & biking at the Pueblo Reservoir & visiting parks in Colorado Springs.
You are truly part of the family here, and it was tough leaving the wonderful people and animals after just one month. I felt appreciated, welcomed, and taken care of during my stay, and am so grateful for the experience.

This was our first time WWOOFing, and this family and their farm was above what we were expecting. The entire visit was welcoming, and their farm was full of things to do and experience. The family was very easy to talk with and feel comfortable around. They had great advice and explained their processes and the way they run their farm and home so that you were constantly learning and gaining valuable experience. Both Nick and Joshua are extremely passionate about what they do; they push through and get the work done to fulfill their vision for their farm while having a welcoming and great family. The animals were sweet with their own personalities, making if fun to learn, take care of, and interact with them up close. Their crops and greenhouse were incredible and a great experience for anyone interested in having a greenhouse and learning about transplants, maintaining crops, and starting crops from seed. The work we did was different every day, my boyfriend and I both got to experience aspects that appealed to our personalities and skill level while going out of our comfort zone and having a great environment to learn with Nick and Joshua. Overall, this farm was incredible for us to learn and also have that comfortable and fun environment, and we are so glad that we were able to visit this farm!

My time at Nola Naturals was extremely fulfilling. Nick and Joshua were amazing hosts who taught me so much about farming and the benefits of regenerative agriculture. The work was hard and sometimes my days were more type 2 fun, but Nick and Joshua are doing such amazing work and I was so happy to be a part of that! They welcomed me into their home and their family and I cannot wait to visit them again soon!

My experience here was like no other, Nick and Joshua are so knowledgeable and passionate about farming, permaculture, and raising animals and food in a way that is closest to nature. They accepted me into their home and their family and made me feel super comfortable right away. I learned so much in just two months and they thoughtfully answered every question I had.Their kids are remarkable and so much fun. The work was fascinating and they have a good balance of showing you how things should be done and letting you make observations of how you think you should do something. We spent a lot of time weeding, moving and taking care of animals, tending to the plants in the greenhouse, harvesting and hanging garlic and onions, and many more projects! We processed a small batch of chickens and they let us be apart of every step. I loved being able to go to market and see the difference they are making in the community and to connect with other farmers that are doing similar things. They are making an incredible difference in regenerating the land and in setting the standard for how our food is grown and raised. They are honest, hard working people and I am so grateful for my time with their family! I couldn’t recommend going to this farm more!

This farm is the place to be. Not only is it a place of learning, but it’s also a place of healing. Everyone needs to come help out here at least once in their lives. These people are some of the best people I’ve ever met. The animals here live really good lives, and even still, they're constantly working on improving their quality of life and making this sustainable. They have a contagious passion for our earth and regenerative agriculture. Outside of all the amazing farm animals, there are cuddly dogs and incredible kids. This is just a safe place to be. It doesn’t even feel like work, feels like helping out family.
