A farm that incorporates a vegan lifestyle, art and oneness as a means to get back to nature
Alabama
Our farm incorporates growing fresh food, art and oneness as a means to get back to nature. Knowing that we are all one and that it takes all ages from 0 to 100+ to build a community! We are surrounded by lush forest and have beautiful creeks and streams to explore filled with at least 7 different color clay's. Me and my husband actually got married here barefoot in the forest many years ago. We do bonfires, drum circles, art classes, Kayaking trips, we have even established 3 annual vegan potlucks. 2 of the 3 have evolved into 2-day camp outs. We encourage attendees to read the labels and to strive for organic ingredients. To know what's in the food they are bringing. We participate in a monthly market that friends of ours run which is a beautiful network of local organic "friend" farmers who barter and buy from each other. We vend at Raw food festivals, markets, and events on neighboring farms.
GOALS:
Nourishment of the body and the soul! One of our main goals is to get to the point where we are eating only what we grow, forage, or buy from local organic farmers. As well as grow every ingredient we use in our dishes. My husband just recently mastered a raw plant-based sandwich loaf. He makes the loaf I make the bread, put it together and yum yum yum!!! I actually won 2nd place for my raw "pizzaz" in a contest in 2019 and 1st place in 2024! We want to educate people on what it means to eat for health and take care of ourselves. We also want to inspire COMMUNITY.
COMMUNITY:
Altogether there are about 11 people who live on the farm
Jahi my husband teaches how to make jewelry, rain sticks and is very artistic, my son Zephyr (26 yrs old) is building his own house on the property. He is a songwriter, designer, and entrepreneur. My oldest son Kasheam (43 yrs. old) who now lives in Montgomery is a master builder, electrician, etc. Our friend Jihad (26 yrs. old) has mastered jewelry making taught by my husband has began a jewelry company of his own called Aretralis he also makes music and art. My son Kelly his wife and 5 of their children also are building a home here and run a Non-profit, Continuing The Magic. As well as our many friends (all with their own unique skills) who frequently visit the farm! You'll have access to a brimming community of great minds, as well as the space for silence and relaxation. We have a lot of fun and we love simplicity, that is how we live and enjoy life.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
We have 2 to 3 extra bedrooms in our home. If more privacy is desired, we have a camper and another unit available and We are also finishing construction of a commercial kitchen/ WWOOFer space with 2 rooms on either end.
YOU'LL HAVE ACCESS TO:
The Park | Basketball court, Volleyball, Trampoline, monkey bars, soccer field
The Gym | Free-weights, bench, squat rack, pull up stand, multi-machine, punching bag, gloves, and yoga mats
The Rivers, Streams, Hiking trails for exploring
WiFi
LOCATION:
We are located in a rural area but not too far from city centers. Auburn AL is about (20 minutes away), Montgomery the state capital (40 minutes away). Atlanta (just under 2 hours away), and Birmingham (2 hours away). There is always something to do here. You can also catch rides to stores or a cafe from our community members sometimes. Our animals roam around freely. We have chickens, cats, dogs (that just had puppies!), ducks, pygmy goats (that have just had kids!!) and mini pigs (That have just had piglets!!!). The goats, pigs and ducks have a fenced in area. Often when children are here, I encourage them to be kind to the animals. You'd be surprised at how many don't quite know how. I give them little lessons, showing them to just observe, how to feed, and help the animals if they need it.
EXPECTATIONS:
The expectations we have for WWOOFers is to be open to new things, people, and environments, to assist and to share any ideas you may have on how to make the gardens run more smoothly and consistently. It's not just gardening, we need help with building projects, markets, animals, etc. whatever you're suited for or willing to learn. We try to wake early, work until around noon then relax or handle any side tasks, weekends off to explore, talk, recuperate . Work is very important here, but so is rest! We are willing to accept children. We are not be able to accept pets, especially indoors. ALL language is welcome. We mainly speak English (my son is learning French) but there are many ways to communicate outside of words. We welcome the opportunity to learn from each other. And once again, we are a vegan community, we don't allow meat or dairy on the property. Also, we stay away from GMO Monsanto products. All the meals provided will be organic vegan plant based. We are looking forward to having you work with us.
Organic methods: We compost, hand weed, plant, mulch, recycle. Absolutely no chemicals, no Bonnie plants, no miracle grow, no machine tilling. We use composted horse manure, cow manure or goat manure.
Current projects: Organizing second hoop house, getting growing beds in order, garden cleaning, planting, weeding. Construction of the garden house, Remodeling WWOOF house, etc.
Certifications: am following the CAP 138 NRCS plan for organic transitioning

My time on Mama Cheryl's land was a necessary respite from the woes of the West. Not only was I able to detox my body while living in accordance with her vegan lifestyle, I was also afforded the opportunity to let go of old habits and mindsets that were no longer serving me. The slowness in the midst of the laborious work achieved during workdays made thing even more enjoyable. Moreover, it was really nice to observe Mama Cheryl and Baba Yahi in their element.
I was happy to lend my skills and my time to such a great place. I will definitely return to RawSoulicious, if not just to catch up and keep in touch.

I stayed at this farm for about a month between March-April and had a more wonderful time than I could have imagined. The land is absolutely beautiful and expansive, with the creek just behind their home being a true place of peace and healing. To speak of the people, this is an amazing community and from the moment I arrived I felt welcomed and treated like family. I had the opportunity to socialize with the many people who live on the farm as well as the community at large and was included in any and everything they did if I chose to tag along! I enjoyed the farm work and variety of different tasks, I was even able to paint a mural on one of their wells toward the end of my stay. I would absolutely recommend this farm and would happily go back if I am wanting to wwoof again.

The farm was a fun family space with children and farm animals9 who are mostly pets) and wonderful farm to table experiences. I had the opportunity to ask the host questions and inccrease my knowledge base on growing and harvesting specific crops, maintenence of a greenhouse and seasonal growing in the greenhouse.
There was plenty of farm fresh and organic food and I had the opportunity to interract with Wwoofers who have been doing this longer than I have and hear about their eperiences too.
Highly reccomended! Would do it again!

I visited Cheryl and Jahi's farm during the second week of June 2024. Even though I only stayed for a week, it was a life-changing experience. This was my first WWOOF trip, so I had no idea what to expect. Immediately after driving onto the land, I felt my worries dissolve. They've cultivated a space full of life and creativity, with family at the core. I felt like I was part of the family, too. Jahi is an excellent teacher. We talked about the different plants that were growing on the property and in the hoop house. It was blueberry season, so we had fun picking and eating blueberries straight off of the bush. I also learned so much about the Seminole Maroon tribe, and how Jahi is carrying on their legacy. I also learned so much just from working alongside Cheryl, Jihad, and the children.
My biggest takeaway was the importance of community. While I was there, we celebrated Cheryl's birthday at a picnic and attended a wholistic health expo, where I met many of the beautiful healers/growers/people who make life richer and make this area so special. Having these experiences gave me more courage toward continuing on my own mission to start a land project, and reminded me that I can't go wrong if I'm connected to a strong community.
I was sad when I had to leave, and I knew I'd have to return soon. I'm forever grateful to Cheryl and Jahi for inviting me here. If you're thinking about visiting... do it.

Mercedes and I had a magical time at this farm. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed into the warm embrace of Cheryl, Jahid, and their beautiful family and community. It was the perfect first WOOFing experience, immersing us in a world of sustainable living, wholesome food, and genuine connection.
We spent our days pruning trees, processing hibiscus leaves and flowers, and exploring the land and pristine creek behind their home. Each day brought new discoveries, not just about farming and raw food preparation, but about ourselves and the kind of life we want to create.
Cheryl and Jahid are truly inspiring individuals, sharing their knowledge and passion for healthy living with such open hearts. We loved listening to their stories while learning to prepare incredible raw dishes. Beyond the delicious food and the farm work, it was the people that made this experience so special. We connected with amazing woofers, each with their own unique story and talents. Everyone was so kind and inspiring in their own way, creating a truly supportive and uplifting environment.
This is more than just a farm; it's a sanctuary for growth, connection, and inspiration. We left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and deeply grateful for the time we spent with these beautiful people. If you're seeking a WOOFing experience that nourishes your mind, body, and soul, look no further.
We look forward to coming back with much love <3
