Diversified regenerative organic farm in the Northern Poconos
Pennsylvania
This is a diversified regenerative organic farm in Northeast Pennsylvania. We raise pastured poultry, forested pigs, and grass-fed cattle and sheep. We also have a 1/2 acre market garden and fruit and nut orchards. Our farming approach prioritizes animal welfare and ecology. In addition to being a profitable commercial farm, we have an educational mission to accelerate our transition to a regenerative food system.
We work with each WWOOFer to develop a personalized work and learning plan. WWOOFers generally rotate across our major work areas (e.g. livestock, orchards, market garden, marketing, business management) and then specialize in a few key areas. Learning plans include daily chores (e.g. pasture moves) and special projects (e.g. water system set-up). This hands-on work is informed by relevant frameworks such as Allan Savory's Holistic Management, P.A. Yeomans' Scale of Permanence and Keyline Design, and Bill Mollison's 12 Principles of Permaculture.
The typical day includes chores at the beginning and end of the day (e.g. animal moves, garden harvest) with the bulk of the day focused on special projects (e.g. planting silvopasture). The weekly heartbeat is our weekend farmers' markets, so we will generally harvest and pack up for those on Fridays.
WWOOFERs must have a demonstrated interest in regenerative agriculture. Hands-on experience with gardening or livestock is a plus. We encourage a minimum stays of one month. Lastly, we prioritize candidates who demonstrate the ability to put in hard work, flexibility across a wide range of tasks, a positive track-record of taking initiative, and the ability to work well in a team.
LIFE ON THE FARM
We mostly eat our own or locally-grown produce. WWOOFERs stay in the historical farm house on the property, which is equipped with a kitchen, three bedrooms, full bath, and wood stoves with access to a private gym.
WWOOFERs are encouraged to explore our beautiful corner of Pennsylvania. On farm, we have a 1/2 acre spring-fed pond for swimming and fishing and 60 acres of woodlands for forest bathing, foraging and hiking. We are surrounded by forests, lakes and rail-trails, and are close to the Delaware river, so there are plenty of opportunities to hike, bike and boat nearby. There are small country towns to explore, and we have local bus service to New York City. We have a piano available for musicians / ensembles.

This was my first WWOOF experience and I have so much gratitude for how wonderful it was and the ability to become totally immersed immediately. Brent is a very caring and considerate host and so very knowledgable. Every conversation we had I learned something new and interesting. This farm is in a beautiful part of PA; the crisp fresh air every morning was so very refreshing and a wonderful way to start the day. At the beginning and end of each day I would help with animal care for the chicks and laying hens. I collected the eggs at the end of the day which would then be processed for market. I did some broadfork work where the layers were, super awesome workout! I also got to help with some animal moves. I worked at a few different local farmer's markets and really enjoyed that too. Brent shows how regenerative agriculture is healthy for the environment, the animals, and the consumers. This farm is definitely the real deal.

A truly special experience! This is an incredible place for someone who really wants to learn about regenerative farming. Brent is an amazing resource, and I learned something new every time we spoke.
I spent about a month here in the winter. It was not easy, especially with the cold weather, but it was very rewarding and educational. My daily chores involved getting food and water to the chickens, collecting and packing eggs, and rendering beef fat into tallow for their whipped tallow product. I would also help out at the Cooperage Farmers Market in Honesdale selling honey, meat, eggs, cheese, soap, and whipped tallow. Other winter work that I did not participate in included bringing hay to the cows and sheep, bringing feed to the pigs, and making sure no one's water was frozen. Since the animals can't graze pasture and the days are shorter, there is more downtime than in the spring and summer months. This time is used to build an inventory of products like whipped tallow and soaps for the spring and summer markets.
I cannot recommend this place enough, but be prepared to work hard and keep yourself accountable. Brent is on a mission to show that a financially viable farm can restore diverse ecosystems and support local food systems. In the US, this is an uphill battle, and this farm needs people who are here to learn and contribute to that mission. I have so much respect for what Brent is building, and I'm grateful I got to be a small part of it.

Two weeks at Two Creek
Total immersion, I felt like part of the team. Farm work is generally tough, more so in this context. To call it volunteering would be an understatement. I admire the vision, restoring the land through responsible animal impact. Although, it is disheartening to see so much plastic. Bottom line, the farm is a business, and Brent treats it as such. Ideally, I'd love to see a collection of small scale co-ops, specializing in one thing at a time. Even so, they are doing better than 99% of farms in PA at this scale. Brent is a well of knowledge and experience, there is always a method to the madness.
The highlights were the surrounding areas and sheer beauty of the farm. Gorgeous landscape, wildlife, and amenities. Fully stocked insulated gym w/ a porch and all the equipment you'll need. A rough and tumble farm house, yet cozy. Cold clean pond nearby to swim in. Two mountain bikes available for use. House library on all things homesteading, many through a holistic lens. Finally, the free eggs, produce, and meats were a blessing and a half. Labor and learning opportunities abound, you'll have no shortage of things to do.
I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to WWOOF with Two Creek, and I look forward to visiting in 5 years to see how it has grown.

This place is the real deal. A tremendous wealth of available knowledge and experience from considerate and caring hosts. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to be part of a hard working team that's setting a positive example for other farms. It is incredibly satisfying and leaves me feeling better physically and mentally. Looking forward to returning.

This farm is an excellent choice for anyone interested in learning about contemporary, "progressive" farming methods (à la Richard Perkins, Joel Salatin, et al.), how a small farm runs in a real commercial setting, and how to farm under sustainable / regenerative models (Holistic Management, Permaculture, etc.). Brent and Stefanie were excellent hosts and mentors. Personally I was looking to gain practical experience in as many diverse farm operations as possible, and generally get a dose of farm reality, and was very happy with my choice.
Also by the way, though it's nothing too scary, real farming means real work! ;)

An amazing adventure. Each day is filled amazing opportunities to learn while doing. Morning and evening chores gives a sense of pride as you care for the animals on the farm which include the young peeps that will become the next generation of broilers and laying hens, the hogs that forage in the forest, the laying hens that produce the rainbow eggs, the sheep that graze in the fields close to my home on the farm and the Highland Coo that has been recently added to the beef livestock. Beyond the daily chores I was able to help install a gravity fed watering system, wash eggs for the market, put up a greenhouse, move electric fencing to create new pastures for animals to graze, deliver fresh quality beef to a local restaurant, go to a market to sell fresh farm products, and watch more than a dozen lambs be born in the 2 weeks of my stay. Brent is building a farming model that demonstrates how regenerative and holistic methods of raising animals can be healthy for the environment and the consumers as well as financially viable. His farming practices are true to the Savory method and is a living example of what can be accomplished using management-intensive grazing practices to improve the quality of the soil to restore the ecosystem and raise quality produce for his customers. If you are looking for a responsible, business-led animal farming experience, this is the perfect place to visit.
