We have 22 of the most AMAZING Alpine Goats. 6 goats are currently being milked with our melasty 8 goat milking machine. Also we have about 20 Chickens, mostly heritage breeds. We teach goat husbandry, including milking with 8 goat milk machine, processing of milk, yogurt, and kefir along with hoof trimming and repairing electric fencing. We also teach kefir, yogurt, and cheesemaking when my wife feels up to it. We also welcome those with construction skills to help finish the plumbing and kitchen in the upper level of the barn for our FARM EDUCATION center. We also need help to build small cabins for housing for WOOFER’s who want to live on the property and help for an extended period of time. We do NOT do farm work except feeding and milking of goats on the Eternal Sabbath, Saturday. The farm shuts down on Sabbath and we rest. We currently host day and extended stay WWOOFERS and have a 30’ camper. It is suitable for MARRIED couples or a single person. It has a bathroom, shower, stove, double bed, a new fridge, nice couch in the living room. We can share some meals and provide food. WWOOFERS also MIUST have a reliable Vehicle for Transportation along with Insurance.. The closest amenities are 10 min away. Activities: goat husbandry including milking, delivery of milk to drop off locations in Denver and Colorado Springs, cleaning out sheds, trimming hoofs, training them on a leash, gardening, weed mitigation, weed wacking and weeding, landscaping, mechanic work on farm vehicles. I (and the two teens I brought with me) am very new to farming and I'm sure it showed, but I learned a lot from my first Wwoofing experience. Thomas was knowledgeable about his animals and provided a good education and experience for as short a time as we had to work together. Everything was clean and sanitary. With the exception of one incident that I won't mention here that made me uncomfortable and hesitant to return, I had an overall enjoyable time.

We stayed at Thomas’s farm from April to July 2025. The property is quiet and beautiful, with rich birdlife - including wild turkeys - and the goats are truly lovely. We performed daily animal care tasks as agreed (goat milking and feeding the dogs). However, many of the activities initially listed in the host profile - gardening, cheese-making, honey, eggs - were neither shared nor offered as learning opportunities. We stayed in our own trailer on the property and chose not to connect to the electricity available near the house. There was no access to a toilet, a shower or a kitchen. The only food provided was goat milk, and we were encouraged to use a local food bank to get free groceries. For cooking, we used our own electric hot plate plugged inside the goat milking area. The “farm education center” mentioned in the listing remained unfinished. Janie, the host’s wife, seemed uncomfortable with WWOOFers and canceled a scheduled cheese-making session without explanation. I (Solène) was allowed to shower in the hosts’ house three times over the course of a month, and each time felt uncomfortable. Besides conveniently leaving out some facts, Solene has a strong sense of self-entitlement and demanded things she knew from day one that we could not provide. I was very upfront with her and her husband about our current situation the first day I met them when they came to visit the farm to see if it would be a good fit. I explained CLEARLY about my and my wife’s current health challenges. I had shattered my femur bone just weeks prior and my wife was having chronic digestive health issues. My wife wasn’t able to meet with them that first visit due to her health issues. I explained VERY clearly that day that we did not have the education center and kitchen finished and could not offer any live in facilities. Yet they still wanted to come and we desperately needed help. The husband of this pair came first, as his wife was traveling outside the country when he first arrived. He was extremely helpful and we had very few issues with him. 6 weeks later his wife arrived and she began demanding a shower, kitchen use, and cheesemaking classes that I had explained to them we could not provide at this time. Also they and another WWOOFer, mostly wanted to do the tasks that they wanted to do and not priority work we needed done. Leaving suddenly 10 days earlier than we originally we were told, the barn was left a mess. We made it very clear from the beginning we were not set up for any live in WWOOFers but only be open to day WWOOFers. We do not recommend this couple.

I just got done spending a wonderful week with Thomas and Janie. Thomas is a great guy and is very patient at explaining and showing me what needs to be done. Together we milked 6-8 goats twice a day, worked on repairing a leaf spring on his truck, and installed a bathtub in the ground for the dogs to cool off in (to be determined if the dogs will use it) I also did some weed wacking, mowing, and fence repair. I enjoyed the fence repair because it was a good way to explore the property and sometimes the Great Pyrenees would pay a visit. Janie is often working in her garden and she is very creative and knowledgeable in the kitchen. She knows how to make goat cheeses but I was not there long enough to witness that. I loved the goats, the property, and the people. Wish I could stay for a few months or longer. Even though I was only there for a week I see them as family.
