My name is Randy and together with my wife, son, and daughter-in-law we run a regenerative farm using animals to build soil by increasing fertility and life in the soil. Our farm is located 45 minutes east of Indianapolis and we attend one farmers market. We have pigs, chickens both meat birds (in season) and layers, and three jersey cows, two of which we milk. We also have about two acres of produce in production through the summer months and a greenhouse that we grow our winter crops. We have tried many different methods of growing veggies and are always trying new things. Sometimes we have successes and sometimes the new way fails but we are always wanting to learn and grow. There is never a shortage of things to be done on the farm and each day brings new tasks and challenges. We try to break up tasks to make it more enjoyable. Mondays are our animals moving day. All our animals get moved onto new pasture weekly or twice a week depending on the time of year and the growth of grass. Mondays are also our picking day for veggies or fruit that may be in season. Tuesdays are spent prepping for deliveries. Wednesday is our delivery day but of course animals need taken care of every day. Thursdays and Fridays are picking and getting ready for our Saturday market. Sundays are our day to rest and recoup if you can call it that but we do move a little slower. Every day starts and ends with milking the cows. We have a two story house with several extra rooms with one shared bathroom for the upstairs. You will get a room to yourself for the duration of your stay with us. We always have a hearty breakfast and forage for lunch and typically we all sit down in the evening for supper. On busy evenings we may eat leftovers if we run out of time. We enjoy relaxing to a show in the evening if time permits or on a weekend we may spend some time kayaking down a nearby river or lake. Most of the time we love just spending time on the farm and enjoying all the bounty that comes for the work of our hands.
