Organic seed production farm
Puerto Rico
Hello Woofers I am Raul, I have been farming and educating on organic practices for 20 years. I am a happy farmer, with a lot of love for the land. I live in the farm with my teen daughter and son. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and the neighbor horses are always around the homestead. We motivate people to do their own garden, community or school gardens to increase food security on the island.
The project is worked by 6 other employees that help keep the farm planted and ready, but the most important is to harvest the seeds when they are ripe and ready. That is why we need hands that can help us not to lose any harvest. We invite WWOOFers to work in teams with employees to make jobs easier and fun. Sometimes we receive school kids to come and learn about farming, or visit community centers to teach. We are also building in October 2025 a passion fruit vine trellis/roof like structure and start planting fruit trees for a new food forest area.
A community kitchen is available in the homestead, for WWOOFers to use, it will be equipped with the basics, vegetables can be harvested from the farm or gardens. We will share at least a family meal a day. The WWOOFers sleep in individual tents with air mattress provided by us, the camping area is next to the community kitchen and bathroom with hot or cold showers.
I enjoy mountain biking, going to the beach at least 3 times a week to snorkel, paddle board and watch the sunset. I enjoy playing music and singing, cooking, reading, playing volleyball and PS5 wih my kids and watching movies together.
There is a pool, and a small river where I go to relax and get refreshed. We are located in a beach town on the northwest coast where surfing is very popular. There are movie theaters, rain forests, caves, and waterfall to explore. The communal areas also have hammacs, musical instruments, Wi-Fi connection and comfortable open spaces.

This was my first time in Puerto Rico. Raul and his staff were welcoming, fun, and introduced me to many things I plan to hold onto for as long as I can. If you're going to Puerto Rico and want to travel outside of San Juan, Raul's farm is a great place to stay to get that traveling in!

Raul’s farm was an incredible experience for me and my boyfriend. We learned a lot with his workers about seed farming. It’s inspired us to start our own farm some day! Everyone was very kind, generous, and welcoming. Raul was a wonderful host, and speaking with him about his farm and the ins and outs of seed production was really lovely. We had lots of laughs, good food, and an unforgettable experience all around. We would recommend Raul’s farm to anyone looking to learn, work hard, and have fun!

I had a wonderful experience here! It’s a unique place. Raúl is the owner. He’s organized, welcoming and energetic. He is clearly a content matter expert. I have enormous respect for his community programming over the years. Raúl has many responsibilities, and another farm in another part of Isabela, so Woofers spend most of the time with other farm workers This is totally fine. I spent most of the day with Amy, who is also very engaging and kind, tending vegetable beds and harvesting.
I was introduced to many plants and seeds native to Puerto Rico. The focus is on the seeds that come from the plants. One of my favorite interactions was volunteering alongside three types of volunteers: (1). A fun, interesting Woofer named Rachel. (2). Students from a local intensive gardening course who came once a week for hands-on hours. They taught me a lot about Puerto Rican culture and history. (3) One day there was a “community volunteer day” to help harvest veggies destined for a farmer’s market in San Juan.
Look at the farm website for lots of info. Thank you Raúl! I appreciated this experience!
