Hello! We’re the Wolfe family! An energetic and ambitious group of wolves and wolf pups! We live on our farmstead with our 4 boys, 7,5,2 and our new born. We have 4 dogs, 1 great Pyrenees, 1 Belgian Malinois, and 2 frenchies. Also 2 cats, 15 ducks, 1 goose, 3 sheep, and about 20 chickens. We live in the beautiful wine country of Santa Ynez, Ca, 45 minutes from Santa Barbara, 25 min to the beach and 10 minutes to Solvang/Buellton. Our core values and project goals are to live, grow, eat. We moved here 8 years ago to learn about living off the farm, growing our food, and eating it. Basically a passion for living of the land sustainably and working with nature. Everything we do or try to do is geared to our passion for food, and agrotourism! We’ve come a long way but now we finally need help expanding our farm! We’re interested in launching a Dairy program, planting more veggies, fruit tree planting and maintenance, launching wine tasting and food pairings, culinary and homesteading classes. Etc. We have big goals and dreams but we need the village! Looking for 2-4 enthusiastic self starters! 2 couples would be great. Typical day for us involves letting animals out, feeding, changing waters, checking garden, fixing irrigation, planting crops, fertilizing and composting, harvesting crops, working some days of the week farmers market, putting animals away at night. What I can offer teaching is, Crop knowledge Planting and harvesting Maintaining property Animal husbandry Making value added products Landscape and irrigation Plumbing and electrical Culinary and foraging Fishing Farmers market starting a business Business 101 including finances, taxes, and taking product to market Wine production and vinticulture and how to get licensed and take an alcohol product to market. Compost toilet and Private outdoor shower/bath provided. Power station for charging. We are currently in process of building our natural swimming pond for summer! Come help us finish it and enjoy a refreshing dip in a no chemical waterfall style swimming hole. We will do family dinner as often as possible but we’ll definitely shoot for once a week as a general check in! Food is provided as follows chicken eggs daily Mushrooms (lionsmane, shiitake, blue oyster) Fruit trees when in season Fresh herbs Homemade breads and pastries Basic pantry items provided (olive oil from our neighbor, organic dried pastas and canned goods until more crops are planted and harvested. The ability to trade mushrooms at farmers market for other produce you may want. If a WWoofer enjoys their stay and wants to commit long term, we have the option of purchasing a trailer for long term living and work/trade situations. We would like someone to be with us for 3 months before this is considered. Our hobbies include, going to the beach, Archery, fishing, hiking, treasure hunting, gem hunting, cooking, eating, gardening, regenerative and sustainable agriculture, arts and crafts and product making, painting, ceramics, forest gardening, making wine and spirits, caring for animals, surfing, riflery and hunting. I spent five unforgettable weeks at Julian's farm and from the very first day, I felt welcomed, more like a family member than a volunteer❤. The farm is tucked away in a magical place, far from traffic, full of wildlife (shoutout to the squirrels), but still walking distance from town. Most of my time was spent gardening — especially weeding and planting, I also had the opportunity to help with the mushroom growing process and even joined the local farmers market to sell the mushrooms. Talking to the(often regular)market-goers was definitely a highlight, and I already miss a few of the vendors as well. Thanks to Julian I got to volunteer at a marine mammal rescue center, caring for the animals, even witnessing a release🥹. The work structure was mostly flexible, which allowed me to flow with the weather and my own energy levels, something I deeply appreciated. While pulling weeds, I was often accompanied by their(quite vocal)sheep, always hoping for a leafy snack, so I never felt alone. The food was PHENOMENAL. Julian is a terrific cook, it was truly an honor to witness his culinary creations. I had a huge bed in a spacious tent and the hosts always made sure I had everything I needed. Julian was a joy to work with, genuine, caring, and hardworking, an endless well of knowledge, always willing to share. His wife is the sweetest, we connected easily and I thoroughly enjoyed every conversation we had. You can see how amazing they are in the way their kids shine. Thank you🌱💛
