We raise whitetail deer
South Dakota
Hello, my name is Eric. I’ve been in and out of the ranching world since I was a kid, and it’s a way of life I’ve always been drawn back to. Our place is located about six miles outside of Edgemont, South Dakota. Out here, we’re a good hour and a half from the nearest Walmart, but honestly—we like it that way. The quiet, the space, and the lifestyle suit us perfectly.
On the ranch, we raise whitetail deer, which means daily feeding and plenty of hands-on work. There’s always something that needs doing—whether it’s fixing fence, maintaining vehicles and equipment, or just the steady rhythm of day-to-day chores that keep everything running.
For those visiting, we have a comfortable lodge where you’ll be staying. You’ll have the option to prepare your own meals, or, if you’d prefer, you’re welcome to join us at the ranch house and share family-style meals.
I’ve always been an outdoorsman at heart. I love spending time watching wildlife, working with animals, and enjoying the simple beauty of ranch life. Outside of ranching, I enjoy shooting and traveling with my family whenever we get the chance.

I originally planned to stay for one month, but I loved the place so much that I ended up staying for six months!
Working with the deer is truly a unique experience. I really enjoyed feeding them, giving them peanuts, and petting King Julian (one of the bucks).
Eric is a great teacher. He loves sharing his knowledge and is very patient and skilled at explaining things. Since being here, I’ve learned so many new skills, met wonderful people, and explored a lot of South Dakota.
If you want to experience real ranch life, learn hands-on skills, and have a lot of fun, I definitely recommend this place. I will definitely come back — for the deer, and also for my new family in South Dakota!
